    • Provided are a process cartridge and an image forming apparatus having the process cartridge. The process cartridge is constituted as one of at least two types of cartridges, a first cartridge and a second cartridge, and used selectively by being made detachably attachable to a main body of an identical image forming apparatus. The first cartridge includes: a cleaning unit which removes toner remaining on a surface of a medium; a cleaning frame which receives toner recovered by the cleaning unit and has an opening; and a waste toner carrying unit which is provided in the opening and carries the toner in the cleaning frame. The second cartridge includes: a cleaning unit which removes toner remaining on a surface of a medium; a cleaning frame which receives toner recovered by the cleaning unit and has an opening; and a sealing member which seals the opening without the waste toner carrying unit being provided in the opening.

    • A method of remanufacturing a process cartridge includes a step of removing a pin to thereby separate a drum unit and a developing container, a step of separating a developing frame and a developer frame from each other to thereby separate the developing container, a step of resupplying the developer to a developer containing portion of the developer frame, a step of superposing a reseal member on end portion seal members provided at lengthwise one end and other end of a developer supply opening for supplying the developer contained in a developer containing portion to a developing roller, and interposing the reseal member on each of widthwise one end and other end of the developer supply opening along the lengthwise direction of the developer supply opening, and reuniting the developing frame and the developer frame, and a step of reuniting the reconstructed developing container and the drum unit.

    • An assembling method that is for a developing roller usable with a developing device. The developing roller includes a developer carrying member in the form of a hollow cylinder, a flange member provided at an end of the developer carrying member, and a magnet provided in the developer carrying member. The method includes an inserting step of inserting the magnet having at least one projection into an inside of the developer carrying member through an opening of the developer carrying member; an abutting step of abutting the at least one projection to an inside surface of the cylinder of the developer carrying member; and an engaging step of engaging the flange member with the opening by penetrating the flange member with a shaft of the magnet projected out of the opening.

    • A process cartridge is detachably mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The process cartridge includes an electrophotographic photosensitive member; a first frame for supporting the photosensitive member; a developer carrying member for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on the photosensitive member; an opening, provided in the first frame, through which the photosensitive member is exposed; a shutter, provided on the first frame, movable between an open position in which the opening is uncovered and a closed position in which the opening is covered; and a spacer member movably provided on the shutter. When the shutter is located at the closed position, the spacer member is movable to a spacing position in which the spacer member is between the photosensitive member and the developer carrying member to provide a spacing between the photosensitive member and the developer carrying member, and a retracted position in which the opening is covered with the spacer member.

    • A process cartridge is detachably mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The cartridge includes a frame; an electrophotographic photosensitive drum; a developing device for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on the drum; a developer accommodating portion for accommodating a developer for developing the latent image; a developer supply opening for supplying the developer from the accommodating portion to the developing device; a for unsealably sealing the opening; a grip member for being gripped when the sealing member is pulled to unseal the opening; and a grip member mounting portion separably mounted on the frame. The grip member has a stopper for preventing the cartridge from entering the main assembly by abutment to a part of the main assembly when the cartridge is being mounted to the main assembly with the sealing member mounted on the frame.
