    • A rotor spinning device with a contactless passive radial bearing for the spinning rotor. A damping device exerts magnetic forces on the rotor shaft (9) of the spinning rotor by means of operating elements (11, 12), and in this manner damps radially directed oscillations of the spinning rotor. The stationary operating elements (11, 12), which are embodied as magnetic elements, act directly on a magnetic element (8), which is fixedly connected with the rotor shaft (9), wherein the magnetic element (8) is an operative element of the passive bearing of the spinning rotor. A rapid, effective damping of the oscillations is possible without large expenditures.

    • An automatic textile machine includes a multiplicity of work stations each having its own work station electronics for controlling progress of work done at the work station. A method for detecting a position of a cop carrier carrying a textile cop in the vicinity of a work station includes evaluating mistuning of an oscillator circuit as information with a secondary coil disposed on the cop carrier; detecting the information transmitted by the cop carrier with a sensor device; carrying the information to the work station electronics; and processing the information with the work station electronics to initiate further operations. An apparatus for detecting the position of a cop carrier carrying a textile cop in the vicinity of one of the work stations includes a secondary coil disposed on the cop carrier, and a sensor disposed in the vicinity the winding station. The sensor is connected to the winding station electronics and detects information transmitted by the cop carrier. The sensor has an oscillator circuit to be mistuned by the secondary coil.

    • A method for operating an electromotive drive of a textile machine, comprising a contactlessly mounted rotor and catch bearings. The rotor rests on one catch bearing prior to initial operation, and is spaced therefrom by an air gap during stationary operation. A control device allows the rotor to be held in a force-free floating state during stationary operation. The method executes the following steps: (a) inputting an output signal from the control device for maintaining the force-free floating state during operation; (b) calculating the air gap by evaluating the output signal; (c) comparing the calculated value with predetermined limit values; and (d) deactuating the drive when the limit values are passed. The control device comprises a position sensor with at least one sensor coil, at least one actuator coil, a position controller and an integrator, at which the output signal is obtained to determine the air gap.

    • An electric motor for a textile machine can be operated as a generator if the supply voltage fails. The electric motor comprises a rotor configured as the motor armature and a motor phase control circuit comprising a plurality of semiconductor components wherein the electric motor can be short-circuited if a predeterminable limit value is passed during generator operation. The motor circuit causes the short-circuiting on passing the limit value by activating one or more of the semiconductor components. The multi-phase electric motor is used as the single drive of a rotor of the textile machine. wherein the semiconductor components of the phase control bridge. on passing a predeterminable limit value, contactlessly short-circuit the electric motor to brake the electric motor.
