摘要： A data communication system comprising a transceiver unit for retromodulated optical communication with at least one of a plurality of retromodulator units, the transceiver unit comprising at least one of a plurality of transceivers, the transceivers transmitting diffused radiant energy at different angles covering a predetermined three-dimensional area, wherein each transceiver is enabled to set up and execute communication with at least one retromodulator unit located within its coverage area. Furthermore, a retromodulator comprising multiple arrays of lenslets or spherically arranged lenslets is provided for achieving a wide angle of acceptance. Further more a number of novel applications based on the data communication system are provided, including a remote wireless network connection for a portable computing device, a smart card for remote wireless identification, remote data collection, and remote downloading of digital photographs.

摘要： Disclosed is a device which helps caregivers of demented patients, such as persons suffering from Alzheimer's disease, monitor and safeguard the wellbeing of the patients. The device, which is attached to the wrist or the leg of the patients, monitors the movement and behavior of the patient and informs the caregivers whenever unexpected or alarming incidences occur. The device may identify if the patient has fallen, wondered off or is inactive for long periods of time. The device records and learns the patterns of daily behavior of the patient in relation to which it may identify unexpected occurrences. The device is equipped with sensors which enable it to monitor the location, behavior and condition of the patient. Additionally, the device may be programmed to identify particular behaviors as alarming. Selectively activating its sensors and communication interface, the device is especially equipped to operate on low battery consumption.

摘要： A detector for detecting phase-asymmetry in connection with a three-phase rotary machine includes a sensor couplable to the machine for picking up a signal associated with the leakage field during rotation of the machine. Circuit means are also provided for amplifying characteristic components of the signal (i.e., components whose amplitudes greatly increase relative to other components when phase-asymmetry occurs) and for attenuating other components of the signal, particularly at frequencies around f and 3f where f is the line frequency. Converter means converts the output of the circuit means into a control voltage, and control means are responsive to increases in the control voltage above a predetermined level established in the absense of phase-asymmetry for producing an output signal indicative of phase-asymmetry.
