    • A narrowband interference excision and nulling system for Global Positioning Satellite (GPS), spread spectrum navigation and communication bands, and an antijam electronic apparatus that operates using RF conversion and digital signal processing. A band containing the signal of interest as well as interference is converted to an intermediate frequency (IF) for RF filtering using single conversion, and this signal is digitized using an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). A representation of the signal is produced at a lower frequency using digitization and filtering, and a continuous data representation of the band is processed using multiple-point samples to define the input to a complex FFT. The FFT produces contiguous frequency bins that are examined to identify narrowband and broadband interference. An excision algorithm determines the optimum pattern of bins to be removed, after which the residual bins are reconstructed using an IFFT, followed by digital-to-analog conversion and RF conversion to the output band. Narrowband interference excision can be integrated with two-port broadband suppression in cascade using a masked variable resolution FFT spectral energy detection receiver.

    • The anti-fouling compositions and process described herein are capable of preventing or delaying for prolonged periods the fouling of structures such as boats, ships, piers, etc., having substantial portions thereof submerged in water. Processes are described herein for preparing and applying these compositions as coatings to objects to be submerged in sea water. These compositions comprise a number of components, some of which may be coreacted, including: (a) an organic polymeric material having carboxylic acid groups therein which have been reacted with a trihydrocarbyl tin compound to produce ester derivative groups therein; (b) a hydrophilic component having poor water solubility, preferably being water insoluble and having at least two hydroxy groups per molecule, such as castor oil, partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl acetate, partially hydrolyzed copolymers of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate, hydroxy-containing polyacrylates or polymethacrylates, such as ply(2-hydroxy-ethyl methacrylate), polymers of monovinyl ether of alkylene glycols such as ethylene glycol, etc.; (c) a hydrophobic component comprising a compound having 1-3 urethane groups therein and no more than about 20 carbon atoms preferably made by the reaction of an isocyanate compound, such as diisocyanate, with one or more hydroxy-containing solvents, such as ethanol, propanol, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether, etc., or a monoisocyanate with a di- or tri-hydroxy compound such as ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, glycerine, etc., preferably in the presence of low molecular weight ketones, esters and aromatic hydrocarbons, such as methyl ethyl ketone, cyclohexanone, toluene, etc.

    • An interference signal canceling system for communications protection is described for canceling interference signals from earth station received signals using a two input adaptive cancellation network. The present invention addresses terrestrial, co-channel and adjacent satellite interference sources resulting from emitting, isolated, frequency re-use and polarized sources. Main and auxiliary signals are derived directly or by coherent conversion to intermediate frequency using an auxiliary antenna, cross-polarized feed, or auxiliary squinted feed. Filters set receive and canceling bands. Cancellation combines the main signal with a phase, amplitude and time modulated sample of the auxiliary signal. A receiver correlates the auxiliary signal with a sample of the combined output to minimize interference. A control drives the modulator from internal measurements, or satellite receiver measurements, i.e., BER, C/No, SNR, etc., or both. The control searches the modulation space to locate interference nulls followed by null acquisition and tracking to maximize cancellation effects. The present invention is also configurable for multiple interferences using series and parallel arrangements.
