摘要： A process for producing an optical fiber preform in a muffle furnace by hydrolyzing a gaseous glass forming material with a flame from an oxyhydrogen burner and depositing the resulting soot in a rod shape and an apparatus therefor are described, wherein a gas is supplied to the muffle furnace other than from said burner, and the volume supply of said gas is held constant by controlling the amount of a control gas supplied into an intermediate portion of an exhaust pipe through which the gases formed in the muffle furnace and the fine glass particles that do not deposit in a rod shape are discharged.

摘要： A process and apparatus for producing an optical fiber preform by oxidizing a gaseous glass forming material with a flame from a burner and depositing the resulting soot in a rod form are described, wherein two signal beams, supplied by splitting a light beam, are projected in a direction normal to the direction in which the preform grows and are directed into the space between the burner and the deposition face of the preform, and they are positioned so that one beam partially contacts the deposition face of the preform, while the other beam is directed to pass between the burner and the deposition face, and the distance between the burner and the deposition face is controlled such that the ratio of the intensity of the two beams passing through the space between the burner and the deposition face is held constant.

摘要： In a liquid substance supply device, a three port two valve directional control valve is provided in a transfer line, and a substance container and the transfer line are connected together by a four port three valve directional control valve in such a way that the four port three valve directional control valve and the substance container can be removed from the transfer line as a unit. Furthermore, in a vaporizer, an orifice member is provided to surround the end portion of an internal conduit in which flows a mixture substance consisting of a gas and a liquid substance mixed therewith, and gas for atomization is spouted into a vaporization chamber through a gap defined between the internal conduit and the orifice member. Yet further, the temperature of a vaporization surface in the vaporization chamber can be controlled independently in correspondence with the nature of the liquid substance.

The location of the liquid fluid is confirmed with ease by enhancing the brightness of light emission of the fluid through uniform dispersion of the nanoparticles in the liquid fluid containing a material having a flame reaction. In this way, as to liquid fluids utilized in various industries, it is possible to offer a technology to desirably enhance or suppress a property desired to be enhanced and a property desired to be suppressed among various properties that its constituents have.

摘要： A corrugation forming apparatus includes, as forming members, a rack tool assembled to a slide table and a pinion tool which rotates with rotation of a shaft. The apparatus also includes, as a displacement synchronization mechanism, a feed rack integrally assembled to the table and a feed pinion gear in meshing engagement with the feed rack. When a handle is rotated, its rotational force is transmitted to the feed rack via the feed pinion gear, so that the rack tool moves along the axial direction, and the pinion tool rotates in synchronism with the movement of the rack tool. This enables forming of successive recesses and projections on the thin metal plate, while reducing ductile cracks and warpage.
