摘要： Endothelial cell growth factor (ECG) from various sources possesses a strong and specific affinity for heparin. This strong affinity of ECG for heparin enables removal of undesired impurities from a mixture comprising ECG by: a) contacting immobilized heparin with the mixture to form a heparin-ECG complex; b) separating uncomplexed mixture from the complex; and c) contacting the complex with a salt solution of a salt concentration and pH effective to separate the ECG from the heparin. The resulting purified ECG (or fragment thereof) is useful in therapeutics and as an additive for cell culturing. The purified ECG is also useful to raise antibodies that are used in therapeutics and in ECG immunoassays.

摘要： Disclosed are heparin binding mitogens which include an epidermal growth factor-homologous segment (HB-EHM). These factors stimulate proliferation of fibroblast cells, epithelial cells, and smooth muscle cells, but not endothelial cells. Also disclosed are isolated antibodies that recognize, and purified nucleic acids that encode, the above growth factors as well as isolated polypeptides, vectors containing such nucleic acids, and cells harboring such vectors. Growth factors of this invention may be used for accelerating the rate of wound healing, for the in vitro culture of HB-EHM-responsive cells, and for the identification of antagonists to HB-EHM.

摘要： The present invention relates to cDNA encoding a soluble neuropilin protein (sNP) which is isolated from neuropilin (NP) producing cells or is recombinantly engineered from NP-encoding DNA. NP-1 and NP-2 are preferred NPs but any neuropilin or VEGF receptor (VEGFR), where the constituents share at least about 85% homology with either of the above VEGF165R/NP-1 and NP-2. More preferably, such constituent shares at least 90% homology. Still more preferably, each constituent shares at least 95% homology.
