    • Method and apparatus for decoding is provided. A decoding channel IDentity (ID) of a Dedicated Physical Control Channel (DPCCH) and a decoding channel ID of an Enhanced DPCCH (E-DPCCH) of a user are acquired according to a user ID of the user; Transport Format Combination Indicator (TFCI) symbols in the DPCCH and Enhanced TFCI (E-TFCI) symbols in the E-DPCCH are de-mapped, and the de-mapped symbols are stored according to the decoding channel ID; and a symbol queue to be decoded is selected according to priorities of symbol queues of the DPCCH and the E-DPCCH, symbols corresponding to the selected symbol queue from the de-mapped symbols, and decoding the read symbols are read out.

    • According to one aspect, an optical recording and/or reproducing device for reading and/or writing an optical disc includes a base, optical pickup head, and a moving mechanism for slidably moving the optical pickup head. The moving mechanism includes a worm gear, a motor for rotating the worm gear, and a rack disposed between the worm gear and the optical pickup head for transferring motion from the worm gear to the optical pickup head. The rack includes a fastening portion for fixing the rack to the optical pickup head, an engaging portion for engaging with the worm gear, a restricting portion connected to the engaging portion for preventing the engaging portion from running out of the worm gear, and a connecting portion for connecting the fastening portion with the restricting portion.

    • Field device management includes receiving data from a field device. The data describes current settings by which the field device is collecting geographic data. The geographic data includes geodetic data recorded from a GPS or DGPS system within the field device. Configuration instructions can be transmitted to the field device to reconfigure the manner in which the field device collects data. The data stored at the field device can also be synchronized with data acquired by other field devices and data stored at a field device management computer.
