摘要： A bearing system in which an axially stiff narrow gap fluid dynamic gas bearing is preloaded by an axially less stiff larger gap fluid dynamic bearing. As an example two fluid dynamic bearings are provided spaced apart along a shaft, one of the bearings comprising a fluid dynamic bearing, the other comprising an air bearing. The fluid dynamic bearing has a larger gap, while the air bearing has a relatively small gap. The overall working surface area of the air bearing may be twice as much or more than the working surface area of the fluid bearing.

At one end of the shaft, at least one high volume, low stiffness seal is used, in combination with a low volume, high stiffness seal. The pressure differential between these two seals is balanced by one or more high stiffness, low volume seals spaced axially away along the shaft.

摘要： A bimetallic part is formed from metals or comprises metals with different thermal expansion coefficients. A first element defines the part and defines one surface of the bearing gap and has a first coefficient of expansion and a second element is wholly or partially inserted into and constrained within the first element and having a different coefficient of thermal expansion so that as the temperature changes, the stress created by the differential expansion of the two elements will cause the overall part to deform elastically as a function of temperature. This deformation will cause the gap, the elements being properly selected, to narrow as temperature rises (and viscosity falls) and to widen as temperature falls (and viscosity rises).

摘要： To simplify fabrication of an integral hub piece, the opening between the upper and lower female cones in this hub has sufficient width or radial dimension to allow access to both cones from one side of the hub with the cutting tool. A cutting tool is used which has a width smaller than the opening between the cones. Preferably, the tool has a width which is about equal to or smaller than an angular dimension through this opening which is defined by extending surfaces of the upper and lower female cones. If this limitation is satisfied, both cones can be created with a single machine set up operating from one side of the integrated hub.Preferably the tool should only move orthogonal or parallel to the cutting tools rotational center axis.

摘要： A section mill is positioned below an exit guide in a drill string assembly used to mill a section of steel casing below the whipstock and which as the section mill moves down and mills along the section of casing, causes the whipstock to be lowered down adjacent the milled-out casing and allows the drill bit and drill string to be run along the surface of the exit guide and into the earth formation. Alternatively, the section mill is positioned above the exit guide in a drill string assembly after the section mill has milled out in an appropriate length of the steel casing, the tubing string pulls both the section mill and the exit guide up to a position where the exit guide is adjacent the area of formation which has been exposed by milling along the steel casing.

摘要： The washing of domestic animals, particularly pets, is facilitated by the brush of the present invention which has reservoirs for animal grooming aids such as soap and cream rinse and a hose connected water supply for applying and removing the grooming aids. The reservoirs are maintained under positive pressure by connection to a back pressure chamber in the head of the brush, finger control valves introduce the grooming aids into a mixing chamber and the mixing chamber is also connected to the back pressure chamber. Vortex generators in the mixing chamber mix together the incoming water and the grooming aids and expel the mixture through holes in the brush at the base of the bristles.
