摘要： A stent assembly comprises an expandable stent having a first stent backbone which extends from the proximal end of the stent to the distal end of the stent. 摘要： Devices and methods for removing a foreign object from a body lumen are disclosed. An embolectomy device can include a filter basket having a plurality of filter struts forming a cage-like structure that can be expanded to circumferentially surround the incoming foreign object. A support frame including a proximal hoop and one or more rail members may be employed to support the filter basket. The support frame and filter basket can be coupled to a pusher wire that can be used to manipulate the device within the body. In certain embodiments, the filter struts may vary in thickness to impart a desired flexibility characteristic to the device. Methods of manufacturing such devices are also disclosed.

摘要： Electrolytically detachable implantable devices and methods of delivering the same to a treatment site. An assembly includes an implantable device, such as a vaso-occlusive coil, a conductive deployment mechanism, such as a conductive pusher or wire, and a temporary connection between the deployment mechanism and the coil in the form of an electrolytically detachable junction. The detachable junction includes fine wires, e.g., stainless steel wires having a small diameter of about 0.00001″ to about 0.0025″, for example, about 0.0005″. The pusher or wire is used to deliver the implantable device through a catheter and to a desired location or treatment site. After the implantable device is properly positioned, electrical current is applied to the fine wires, thereby simultaneously disintegrating the fine wires and leaving the coil at the treatment site.

摘要： This is an artificial occlusion kit for implanting and retaining an artificial occlusion device in a body space adjacent to and extending from a body lumen in a mammal. The includes at least one occlusion device and a retaining device for blocking the migration of the occlusion device out of the occlusion site. The retaining device is radially expandable at a retaining site adjacent the body space to be occluded to a diameter that is sufficient to engage the body lumen wall at the retaining site and form a barrier across the entrance zone of the body space to be occluded. The expanded retaining device also forms a lumen for flow through body lumen at the retaining site. At least one semi-penetrable space may also be provided in the retaining device, allowing introduction of occlusion devices into the body space to be occluded, but preventing subsequent migration of the occlusion devices out of the body space. This semi-penetrable space may also be distensible to allow for delivery of occlusion devices therethrough. An introducer wire or a tapered-tip delivery catheter may be used to distend the distensible space and deliver the occlusion devices. The retaining device structure may further include a radiopaque metal wire wound into a primary helix over an inner core member made of a superelastic alloy of nickel and titanium. An implantable medical device assembly is also provided, having the structure described for the retaining device of the novel artificial occlusion kit, and which is attached to an elongate pusher via a sacrificial link that is electrolytically dissolvable.

摘要： This is an implant for placement in the human body and an assembly for so placing that implant. Most desirably, it is an implant for use in the vasculature of the human body and is used to occlude some space in that vasculature as a portion of a treatment regimen. The implant itself is preferably a component of a deployment device using an electrolytically severable joint. The implant component is at least partially covered with a highly resistive or insulative covering. The highly resistive or insulative layer or covering appears to enhance the susceptibility of the electrolytic joint to quick erosion and thus detachment of the implant. Although the implant itself is preferably a vaso-occlusive device, it may instead be a stent, a vena cava filter, or other implant which may be installed in this manner. The implant may be independently coated with insulative or resistive material or may be formed using a material with such as tantalum, which forms such an insulator or resistor in situ.
