    • A fluid application system for automatically applying a fluid to the teats of an animal subsequent to the milking of the animal comprises a fluid delivery arrangement comprising a plurality of applicators, wherein each of the applicators is arranged in connection with a respective teat cup and is provided for applying the fluid to a teat of the animal, to which the respective teat cup is attached during the milking of the animal, in connection with a detachment of the teat cup from the teat. A control arrangement is provided for (i) determining, for a detachment of a teat cup from a teat, whether that detachment is a normal detachment or an abnormal detachment, and (ii) controlling, for the detachment of the teat cup from the teat, the applicator arranged in connection with that teat cup to apply the fluid provided that the detachment is a normal detachment and to not apply the fluid provided that the detachment is an abnormal detachment.

    • A vacuum pump of the rotary vane type, comprises a casing (50) having a cylindrical inner wall surface (52), a first (54; 54′) and a second (56; 56′) end wall at opposite sides of said casing defining a fluid cavity therein, fluid inlet (60) and outlet (62) ports in open communication with said fluid cavity, and a rotor (64; 64′) extending between said end walls carried by a drive shaft (70) for rotation about an axis eccentric to said casing inner wall surface, said rotor being provided with a plurality of longitudinally extending radial slots (66) about the periphery thereof.     • The present invention relates to controlling vacuum parameters relating to a vacuum pump arrangement in a automatic milking system, said automatic milking system comprising a vacuum pump arrangement (101), said automatic milking system comprises a milking system controller (105) arranged to control milking system parameters and said vacuum pump arrangement comprises a vacuum system controller (103) for controlling vacuum system parameters. Communication means (106) is coupled to said vacuum system controller and to said milking system controller for establishing communication between said vacuum system controllers and said milking system controller. Said milking system controller comprises signal transmitting means (108) for transmitting a message to said vacuum system controller. Said vacuum system controller comprises signal receiving means (107) for receiving said message from said milking system controller, and said vacuum system controller is arranged to change a least one of said vacuum system parameters depending on said received message.
