    • A base station (12) and a method therein for adapting a triggering threshold for cell re-selection measurements performed by a mobile terminal (20) served by a macro cell (14). The macro cell (14) is supported by the base station (12), and the base station (12) and the mobile terminal (20) are comprised in a wireless communications network (10). The base station determines a serving cell signal strength threshold to be used for triggering cell re-selection measurements by the mobile terminal (20) in dependence on the availability of small cells (18a,18b) within or neighboring the macro cell (14). The base station (12) further transmits the determined serving cell signal strength threshold to the mobile terminal (20).

    • A method may be provided in a wireless terminal to modify access to a Radio Access Network. The method may include providing a barring rate at the wireless terminal and providing a barring rate modifier at the wireless terminal. A modified barring rate may be provided at the wireless terminal responsive to the barring rate and the barring rate modifier with the modified barring rate and the barring rate being different. A random number may be provided at the wireless terminal responsive to attempting to access the Radio Access Network, and access of the wireless terminal to the Radio Access Network may be blocked responsive to the random number failing to satisfy a threshold of the modified barring rate. Related wireless terminals, network nodes, and network operations are also discussed.

    • Devices and methods for adjusting resource management procedures in a mobile device communicating with a node operating in a cell in a heterogeneous communication network are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a signal, including a reference signal, transmitted from the node during a predetermined time period, measuring signal reception information, including reference signal power values, at predetermined time intervals during the predetermined time period, measuring speeds of movement of the mobile device at the predetermined time intervals, determining a reference signal power variation value based on the variability of the measured reference signal power values, comparing the determined reference signal power variation value with a predetermined power threshold value for a given measured speed, determining cell information based on the comparison, determining an adjustment to a resource management procedure based on the determined cell information, and adjusting the resource management procedure based on the determined adjustment.
