    • The photocurable organopolysiloxane composition is curable by irradiation with ultraviolet light into a rubbery elastomer which is excellently adhesive to the surface of the substrate on which it has been cured. The composition comprises an organopolysiloxane having, in a molecule, at least one acryloxy-functional group represented by the general formula[CH.sub.2 .dbd.CR.sup.1 --CO--O--(CH.sub.2).sub.a --SiR.sub.2 --O--].sub.b (R).sub.3-b Si--R.sup.2 --,in which R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, each R is a monovalent hydrocarbon group, R.sup.2 is an oxygen atom or a divalent hydrocarbon group and each of the subscripts a and b is 1, 2 or 3, as the principal ingredient together with an acryloxy-containing trialkoxy silane represented by the general formula(R.sup.3 O).sub.3 Si--R.sup.4 --(NH--CO--O--R.sup.4).sub.c --O--CO--CR.sup.1 .dbd.CH.sub.2,in which each R.sup.3 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group, each R.sup.4 is a divalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, R.sup.1 has the same meaning as defined above and the subscript c is zero or 1, acrylic or methacrylic acid and a photosensitizer.

    • A novel acrylic-functional organopolysiloxane is proposed which has a plural number of silicon-bonded (meth)acryloxyalkyl groups at each molecular chain end along with one or more of silicon-bonded alkoxy groups. The organopolysiloxane exhibits high curability by the irradiation with ultraviolet light or dual curability either by the ultraviolet irradiation or by the dealcoholation condensation reaction in a moisture-containing atmosphere. The acrylic-functional organopolysiloxane is prepared by the dealcoholation condensation reaction between a starting organopolysiloxane having a plural number of silicon-bonded alkoxy groups at each molecular chain end and a (meth)acryloxyalkyl dimethyl silanol compound in the presence of a specific condensation catalyst which is a divalent tin compound such as tin (II) dioctoate promoting the dealcoholation condensation but suppressing the silanol condensation reaction between the moleculaes of the (meth)acryloxyalkyl dimethyl silanol compound.

    • This invention enables the selective and easy manufacturing of acrylic organopolysiloxanes which are cured by the irradiation of UV light, by the reaction of the hydroxyl group containing organosilicon compounds (A) of formula (1): ##STR1## wherein each R.sup.1 independently is a substituted or an unsubstituted monovalent hydrocarbon group, and n designates integers from 1 to 10,000 with the acrylic group containing silane compounds (B) of formula (2): ##STR2## wherein each R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 independently is a substituted or an unsubstituted monovalent hydrocarbon group, R.sup.4 is either a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, and each of a and b is an integer from 1 to 3, in the presence of a divalent tin compound of formula (3):SnX.sub.2wherein each X independently is a halogen atom, alkoxy group, or a residue of a carboxyl group, in order to produce the acrylic organopolysiloxanes of formula (4): ##STR3## wherein R.sup.1 through R.sup.4, n, a and b are described as above.
