    • A remote control apparatus having a commander and a receiver. In a wireless remote control system for a television receiver having a channel command device and a responding device, the channel command device includes a channel selecting circuit for selecting one channel command from among a plurality of predetermined channel commands, a command signal generating circuit for generating a channel command signal corresponding to a selected channel command, and a channel command transmitting circuit having a speaker for transmitting the channel command signal; and the responding device includes a channel command receiving circuit having a microphone for receiving the transmitted channel command signal and a channel command discriminating circuit for discriminating the channel command signal and supplying a channel selecting signal corresponding to the discriminated channel command signal to control a tuning circuit of the television receiver. Further, there is provided in the responding device, a return signal generating circuit for producing a return signal corresponding to the channel command indicated by the channel selecting signal and a return signal transmitting circuit having a speaker for transmitting the return signal, while the channel command device further has a return signal receiving circuit having a microphone for receiving the transmitted return signal, a return signal discriminating circuit for discriminating the return signal and producing a discriminated return signal indicating the channel command to which the return signal corresponds, a comparing circuit for comparing the originally selected channel command and the discriminated return signal, and an indicating circuit connected to the comparing circuit for indicating a coincidence of the originally selected channel command and the discriminated return signal.

    • In a video signal reproducing apparatus having a cathode ray tube in which at least one electron beam is made to scan a screen in line-scanning and vertical directions while the intensity of the beam is modulated to establish the brightness of a video picture to be displayed on the screen, and in which bright picture portions are represented by respective high level portions of a video signal defined between rising and falling edges extending from low level signal portions representing contiguous dark picture portions; a waveshaping circuit receives the video signal and acts thereon to provide a compensated video signal in which the width of each high level portion between the respective rising and falling edges is increased, the compensated video signal is employed to control the intensity of the electron beam, the rising and falling edges of each high level portion of the video signal are detected to provide a beam velocity modulation signal with respective positive and negative peaks by which the scanning velocity of the beam in the line-scanning direction is modulated, and the positions of such positive and negative peaks are shafted, relative to the corresponding peaks of a differentiation of the video signal, in the directions toward the adjacent low level signal portions of the compensated video signal.

    • A gain control circuit of the multistage differential amplifier type comprising a first pair of transistors forming a first differential amplifier supplied with an input signal, a second pair of transistors forming a second differential amplifier connected to amplify further the output of the first differential amplifier and a novel semiconductor device of the three-terminal type connected in common between the respective outputs of both the first pair of transistors and an operating voltage source, in which the gain control is attained by controlling the value of the current flowing through at least one differential amplifier. The novel semiconductor device has a semiconductive body similar to an ordinary transistor and acts as a bidirectionally conductive element with a superior symmetrical characteristic.

    • An apparatus for scrolling the display of images obtained from a plurality of data units, each having pattern signals representing a plurality of horizontal lines and a corresponding color signal includes a video display having a plurality of horizontal display lines, a first memory for storing the pattern signals formed with first addresses corresponding to the plurality of horizontal display lines and a first buffer area for temporarily storing received pattern signals, a second memory for storing the color signal formed with second addresses corresponding to the numbers of the data units and a second buffer area for temporarily storing a received color signal, the pattern signals and a corresponding color signal being stored in the first and second buffer areas, respectively. A read out system operates so that the first memory, including the first buffer area, is read out by accessing the first addresses in a pre-determined order and so that the second memory, including the second buffer area, is read out by accessing the second addresses in a pre-determined order. Also provided is a circuit for transferring the pattern signal of a horizontal line stored in the first buffer area to a corresponding address of the first memory and for transferring a corresponding color signal stored in the second buffer area to a corresponding address of the second memory, and a circuit for supplying the pattern signals and the corresponding color signal to the display tube.
