摘要： A low-profile surgical stapler enables a large-sized staple to be delivered into a body cavity through a small opening or port. The surgical stapler includes a handle having a trigger movably coupled to the handle. The surgical stapler also includes an elongated, tubular shaft extends distally from the handle. The tubular shaft includes a proximal end secured to the handle and a distal end in which a deployment opening is formed. A staple deploying assembly is disposed within an interior of the shaft for discharging staples from the deployment opening at the distal end of the shaft, the staple deploying assembly supporting a staple such that a longitudinal axis of the staple is aligned with a longitudinal axis of the shaft. The deployment opening is shaped and dimensioned to permit the deployment of the staples from within the shaft, out of the deployment opening and into adjacent tissue.

摘要： A rolling instrument for rolling the outside surface of the stomach for reducing stomach volume in bariatric surgery includes an elongated tubular body that is sufficiently flexible to allow for access to the outside surface. The tubular body includes a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end is shaped and dimensioned for use by the medical practitioner performing the medical procedure and includes a handle for manipulation of the rolling instrument. The distal end of the tubular body includes a mechanism allowing for gripping of the stomach in a manner permitting rolling thereof. A coiled retainer shaped and dimensioned is provided for application to the rolled portion of the stomach in a manner holding the rolled portion of the stomach in its rolled configuration. The coiled retainer includes a helically coiled body having a first end and a second end, the first end is pointed such that it may puncture tissue as the coiled body is rotated during its application to the stomach.

摘要： A prepackaged safety needle device has fitted to a holder a double-ended needle assembly and a needle protection housing pivotally connected to the neck of the housing. The hub of the double-ended needle is mated to the neck of the holder. A circumferential sleeve extending from the neck of the holder envelops the hub so that when the needle that extends away from the holder is capped by a sheath, the lower portions of the sheath would coact with the sleeve to form a relatively tight fit. The configurations of the sleeve and the sheath with respect to the needle hub, at their respective interacting portions are such that a tortuous path is established which allows sterilizing gas to pass into the space capped by the sheath, but yet prevents bacteria or other contaminants from intruding into the space. The opening at the end of the holder away from the needle assembly is sealed by a porous cover that allows sterilizing gas to pass into the interior of the holder while acting as a barrier to prevent bacteria from entering into the holder. Thus, configured, the prepackaged device is a convenient to use device that remains sterile until use.
