    • Aqueous polyacrylate dispersions comprising hydrophobic co-solvents are provided. The dispersions are prepared from copolymers P) which are comprised of I) a hydroxy-functional, hydrophobic polymer containing as structural monomers Ia) (meth)acrylic acid esters having from C1- to C18-hydrocarbon radicals in the alcohol part and/or vinyl aromatic compounds and/or vinyl esters and Ib) hydroxy-functional monomers; and II) a hydroxy-functional, hydrophilic polymer containing as structural components IIa) (meth)acrylic acid esters having from C1- to C18-hydrocarbon radicals in the alcohol part and/or vinyl aromatic compounds and/or vinyl esters, IIb) hydroxy-functional monomers and IIc) acid-functional monomers, and as solvents C) one or more solvents selected from the group consisting of hydrophobic, water-immiscible hydrocarbons having an initial boiling point of from 170° C. to 250° C. and a dry point of from 200° C. to 280° C., to a process for their preparation and to their use as binders for the production of blister-free coatings.

    • The invention relates to aqueous polyester-polyacrylate dispersions based on copolymers, to a process for their preparation, and to aqueous coating compositions based thereon and the use thereof as lacquers. The dispersions are prepared from a polyester component A) that comprises the reaction product of A1) one or more saturated, aliphatic and/or aromatic di-, tri- or tetra-carboxylic acids or their anhydrides, and A2)one ore more diols and/or polyols, and a polyacrylate component B) that comprises the reaction product of B1) one or more OH-group-free (meth)acrylic acid esters and/or vinyl aromatic compounds, B2) one or more hydroxy-functional vinyl monomers or hydroxy-functional (meth)acrylic acid esters, and B3) one or more acid-group-containing monomers capable of free-radical copolymerisation, herein te polyester component A) has a hydroxyl number of from 180 to 300 mg KOH/g substance and an acid number of from 0.5 to 30 mg KOH/g, and the polyacrylate component B) has a hydroxyl number of from 10 to 180 mg KOH/g and an acid number of from 10 to 100 mg KOH/g, and the copolymer has an OH number smaller than that of the polyester component A) and greater than 27 mg KOH/g.

    • The present invention related to a process for preparing aqueous polyester-polyacrylate dispersions having a cosolvent content of 0 to 5% by weight, based on the weight of the dispersion, by preparing a polymer P) in a first step by polymerizing A) a mixture of vinyl monomers that are capable of free-radical copolymerization, in the presence of B) one or more oligoesters prepared from compounds containing lactone groups and having a hydroxyl number of 145 to 710 mg KOH/g, an acid number of ≦0.5 mg KOH/g solids and an average OH functionality of 2.5 to 5 mg KOH/g solids, and then mixing polymer P) in a second step with C) one or more polyester polyols having a hydroxyl number of 10 to 500 mg KOH/g solids and an acid number of >0.5 to ≦30 mg KOH/g solids and dispersing the resulting polymer mixture in water in a further step, before or after addition of a neutralizing agent. The present invention also relates to the aqueous polyester-polyacrylate polymer dispersions obtained in accordance with the process of the invention and to aqueous coating compositions containing the aqueous polyester-polyacrylate polymer dispersions of the invention.
