    • The invention includes an apparatus and method for scheduling wireless transmission of data blocks between at least one antenna of a base transceiver station and multiple subscriber units. The scheduling can be based on the quality of a transmission link between the base station antennas and the subscriber units, the amount of data requested by the subscriber units, and/or the type of data requested by the subscriber units. The scheduling generally includes assigning frequency blocks and time slots to each of the subscriber units for receiving or transmitting data blocks. The invention includes a method for transmitting data streams between a base transceiver station and a plurality of subscribers. The method includes receiving protocol data units from a network, creating sub-protocol data units from the protocol data units, and once per a frame of time, generating a schedule that designates time slots and pre-defined frequency blocks in which each one of the plurality of subscribers is to receive each of the sub-protocol data units from a plurality of base station transceiver antennas. The invention can further include transmitting the schedule to each of the subscribers, and the plurality of base station transceiver antennas transmitting the sub-protocol data units according to the schedule. The invention can further include selecting at least one transmission mode for each subscriber. The transmission mode dictating the type of modulation and/or coding used during transmission of the sub-protocol data units.

The method involves rendering the document and rendering a sign dialog. Rendering the sign dialog includes prompting the signer to write a signature to sign the document. The method also involves receiving and inking the signature from the signer, creating a digital representation incorporating an image of the signature; creating a unique value of the image of the signature and of the document, and saving the unique value in association with the document thereby digitally signing the document. The unique value saved in association with the document is verifiable for authenticity by users of the document. Additionally, the method may also involve automatically selecting a signing certificate appropriate for the signer based on selection criteria.

    • A wireless terminal measures the received power of a tone corresponding to an intention base station null output, measures the received power of pilot signals, and determines a signal to noise ratio of the received pilot signal. The wireless terminal calculates a downlink signal to noise ratio saturation level representative of the SNR of a received downlink signal that the wireless terminal would measure on a received signal transmitted by the base station at infinite power. The calculated downlink signal to noise ratio saturation level is a function of the determined interference power, the measured received pilot signal power, and the determined pilot signal SNR. A report is generated corresponding to one of a plurality of quantized levels, the selected quantized level being the closest representation to the calculated downlink signal to noise ratio saturation level. The generated report is communicated using a dedicated control channel segment in a predetermined uplink timing structure.

    • The present invention involves apparatus and methods to perform wireless terminal transmission power control. The invention uses novel and highly efficient methods to: convey power control information, specify power control level adjustments, recognize power control information, limit interference in the power control signaling, and recognize corrupted power control signaling, thus conserving wireless terminal energy and minimizing power control signaling and associated bandwidth. Base stations send analog power control command signals, with a continuous range of control levels, to wireless terminals for transmission power adjustments. Power control signals include two components which can be used to convey information, e.g., power control commands, signal quality, device identity information. For zero power adjustment, the control component signal is not transmitted. For a non-zero adjustment, power control signals are sent using control ranges and limits, known to the base station and wireless terminal, with the scaling adjusted or synchronized based upon feedback information.
