    • An active occupant restraint system for a motor vehicle has a central control unit and a plurality of active restraining devices with associated triggering units which are connected to the central control unit for the transmission of ignition information by an ignition bus line system having at least one ring line and/or at least one stub line. The triggering units within a respective ring and/or stub line of the ignition bus line system are arranged as a function of a predeterminable protection significance priority of the restraining devices assigned to the triggering units such that, with a decreasing protection significance priority, they are situated farther away from the central control unit. The occupant restraint system comprises one or more multistage restraining devices with pertaining triggering units, with the triggering unit pertaining to a higher stage of each multistage restraining device arranged in the corresponding ring or stub line closer to the central control unit than the triggering unit pertaining to a lower stage.

    • An actuating control apparatus for the control of different passenger safety components of a passenger safety system in a motor vehicle. The actuating control apparatus can be controlled at its input at least by one deceleration sensor and includes a signal evaluation with a programmable actuating logic as well as a plurality of output stages. In case of an actuation signal, the output stages issue an actuation current to the passenger safety component that is to be controlled. The output stages are adapted in their electrical/electronic performance to the particular passenger safety component. At least one output stage is provided which by a preset electrical control signal is adaptable in its electrical/electronic performance to at least two different passenger safety components.

    • A safety device is provided for a vehicle with a removable seat, especially a passenger seat, with an occupant restraint device associated with the seat. In addition, a seat occupation detection device located in the seat is provided that detects various states of seat occupation, especially by a person or by a child seat, and delivers a corresponding seat occupation status signal through a signal interface to a triggering control device located in the vehicle. The triggering control device takes the seat occupation status into account in delivering the triggering signal, especially to determine the scope of triggering of the restraint device. A seat installation detection device is provided that detects the proper installation of the seat and delivers a corresponding seat installation status signal to the triggering control device. The status signal permits the triggering control device, through a logical link with another status signal that indicates the correct signal transmission at the signal interface, to detect the actual presence or absence of the seat as well as a variety of defective states and to adjust accordingly the delivery of the triggering signal emitted in the case of a serious accident.

    • An identification device for retrofitting a child seat is provided for detecting the child seat on a vehicle seat in a motor vehicle by means of a child seat detection device. A transceiver component, connected to a control and evaluation device, for transmitting an electromagnetic transmission signal and for receiving an electromagnetic reception signal, is arranged as part the child seat detection device in the vehicle seat or in the direct vicinity of the vehicle seat. The reception of the transmission signal in the identification device causes transmission of the reception signal. The identification device has external wiring. By means of a defined mechanical manipulation which brings about a defined change in the external wiring, the identification device can be changed from an inactive initial state to an active state.
