    • A communication system has a controller for transmitting data to be played back by a plurality of playback devices corresponding to a plurality of channels, and a plurality of adapters required for executing playback by the playback devices. The controller has a setting unit which sets data to be played back by the playback devices and control information required to control playback of the data in time slots of a sync transmission frame, and a transmission unit which transmits the sync transmission frame the by the setting unit to the adapters. Each adapter has a reception unit which receives the transmitted sync transmission frame, and a playback control unit which extracts data corresponding to the channel to be played back by the adapter from the sync transmission frame, and controls the playback timing of the data based on control information corresponding to the data.

    • Disclosed herein is a card adapter for electrically connecting electrical connecting portions of a card-shaped electronic device such as a CF card to contacts in a slot for a PC card provided in a personal computer. The card adapter 1 includes a chassis 10, a pair of conducting plates 40 provided on the upper and lower sides of the chassis 10, and a grounding member 20, and the like. The grounding member 20 is used to provide an electrical path for electrically connecting a grounding contact portion of the CF card to a grounding part of the slot without using the conducting plates 40 and it is formed into a single part. By using such a grounding member 20, the card adapter 1 can directly connect the grounding contact portion of the CF card to the grounding part of the slot to accomplish stable and reliable grounding.

    • A video communication system includes a terminal unit for transmitting/receiving an information signal including video information, and a repeater to which a plurality of terminal units identical to the terminal unit can be connected. The repeater forms a transmission signal to be sent to a transmission line by frequency-multiplexing information signals respectively transmitted from the plurality of connected terminal units. The repeater also receives a transmission signal supplied from the transmission line and supplies a plurality of information signals frequency-multiplexed with the input transmission signal to a corresponding terminal unit. With this arrangement, an inexpensive, easy-to-use video communication system which suffers little deterioration in image quality and sound quality can be provided.

    • A recording and reproducing apparatus is arranged to record one picture amount of an image signal in a plurality of recording tracks on a recording medium, to sample one picture amount of the image signal reproduced from the recording medium according to either a first sampling clock signal or a second sampling clock signal of a frequency lower than that of the first sampling clock signal, to store the sample signal, and to selectively output either the sample signal which is sampled on the basis of the first sampling clock signal and stored or the sample signal which is sampled on the basis of the second sampling clock signal and stored. This arrangement enables the operator to readily confirm the contents of the image signal recorded on the recording medium.
