摘要： This innovation describes methods for a New Radio (NR)-based, LEO Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) to improve handover (HO) process. As a user equipment (UE) reaches the HO region, the source and target beam-spots (satellite cells) communicate to finalize handover decision and time of handover. LEO satellites use ISL links to make the source and target cells time synchronized. After the HO decision is finalized, the source beam-spot includes this HO time in the HO Command message. Alternatively, the UE can use its location information to autonomously estimates the HO time, associated with handover events, depending on the beam diameter and speed of the LEO satellite. Under the improved handover process, HO in LEO-TNT is configured and performed without the UE explicitly performing a random access (RA) in the target cell, reducing the frequent random-access process.

In novel aspect, the PDCP reconfiguration includes reconfiguring a normal PDCP to a DAPS PDCP such that the DAPS PDCP is associated with both the source cell and the target cell, and reconfiguring a DAPS PDCP to the normal PDCP by releasing the association with the source cell. In one embodiment, the PDCP entity receives a PDCP reconfiguration request from upper layers of the UE configured with DAPS establishes a header compression protocol, a ciphering function, and an integrity protection function for the target cell. In one embodiment, the PDCP reconfiguration request triggers the DAPS PDCP to be normal PDCP. The DAPS PDCP releases the source header compression, ciphering and integrity protection functions.

In one novel aspect, UDC is performed at the transmitter side at the packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer before packets routing and uplink switching. At the receiver side, the receiver performs reordering before decompresses the UDC packets.
In one embodiment, transmitting UE is configured with multiple radio access technology (RAT) dual connectivity (MRDC) with a master cell group and a secondary cell group, and wherein the PDCP entity of the UE performs UDC data compression for the MRDC before routing. In another embodiment, the transmitter configures two UDC protocol stacks when a DAPS bearer is configured. The transmitting device generates UDC compressed data packets and performs UDC with the target cell configuration when UL data switching is received from lower layer.

In one novel aspect, compact protocol stacks are configured for the UE and the base station handling both the PTM RB and the PTP RB. The compact protocol stack is either configured a compact RLC entity or a compact PDCP entity. The UE monitors a PTM LCH and a PTP LCH and sends feedback to the network with the PTP RB. The base station transmits MBS data packets in the PTM mode to the one or more subscriber UE, monitors feedback report from each subscriber UEs through corresponding PTP RB, and retransmits MBS data packets to one or more UEs through corresponding PTP RBs based on corresponding feedback reports. PTM-to-PTP and PTP-to-PTM mode switches are performed when triggering events are detected. The mode switch notification is sent to UEs via MAC CE or RLC control PDU.

摘要： A method for UE capability reduction on a per-component-carrier or a per-frequency-range basis is proposed. In NR networks, UE may be operating in multiple frequency ranges (FRs) and configured with multiple component carriers (CCs) under carrier aggregation. UE can detect an overheating problem due to the RF activity supporting high bandwidth or high MIMO rank on a specific FR or a specific CC. Accordingly, UE indicates to the network a preference for a capability reduction on the specific FR or the specific CC, e.g., a reduced number of carriers, a reduced maximum bandwidth, or a reduced MIMO rank. Such per-FR or per-CC request allows UE to restrict or reduce its capability in a manner that is specific to certain component carriers and/or certain frequency ranges rather than to a global capability reduction that affects all carriers/frequencies.

摘要： This innovation describes methods for an NR-based, LEO Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) to improve handover process by sending broadcast or group-cast downlink handover (HO) Command message to all (or group of) UEs in the coverage area (cell or beam-spot) of the LEO satellite. Subsequently, on receiving the broadcast (or group-cast) HO Command message, all the UEs in the source cell transmit HO Complete message to the source cell of the LEO-NTN. In order to reduce or avoid heavy Random Access (RA), generating from all the UEs, the LEO-NTN can either send Contention Free Random Access (CFRA), or instruct the UE to perform a random backoff before sending the uplink HO Complete message. Moreover, improvements to configure Conditional Handover (CHO) and delaying the transmission of HO Complete message are also provided.

In one novel aspect, a timer-based PDCP reordering process is triggered upon detecting a PDCP gap existing condition, which indicates an SN gap between the PDCP SDUs of two parallel RLC entities larger than zero. The PDCP gap-closing condition is detected when the last-delivered SDU COUNT number plus one equals to the next-expected SDU COUNT number. In one embodiment, all the stored PDCP SDUs with consecutive COUNT numbers starting from the received SDU COUNT number are delivered upon detecting the PDCP gap-closing condition. In another novel aspect, a reordering timer is started upon detecting the PDCP gap condition. In one embodiment, the expiration of the reordering timer triggers the delivery of SDUs to upper layers. In one embodiment, the UE is configured with dual connectivity and the reordering SDU COUNT numbers and the reordering timers are associated with different connectivity configured.

In one embodiment, a single protocol stack is configured for the UE to receive MBS data packets from both the PTM RB and the PTP RB. The UE assembles data packets from the multicast RB and the unicast RB at the single UE protocol stack and provides uplink feedback for MBS data reception status through the PTP RB.
