摘要： A device for at least partially closing an aperture in an annulus fibrosus of an intervertebral disc of a patient comprises an implant delivery tool and an implant releasably coupled to the implant delivery tool. The implant delivery tool includes a substantially rigid outer tube having a sharpened distal tip, a body a body coupled to the proximal section of the outer tube, and a plunger assembly movable axially relative to the body and including a plunger member and a pusher tube coupled thereto and disposed within the outer tube. The implant includes first and second tissue anchors serially disposed within the distal section of the outer tube, and a flexible connecting element coupling the first and second tissue anchors including a knotless braided suture structure for adjusting the length of the flexible coupling element.

摘要： The invention provides a device and method for cutting an object inside a surgical wound. In one embodiment of the invention, a cutter comprises an elongated body having a distal portion and a proximal portion; a blade holder disposed at least partially in the distal portion and adapted to secure a blade having a cutting edge, the blade holder being movable between a withdrawn position and a advanced position; a blade shield positioned to cover substantially the entire cutting edge when the blade holder is in the withdrawn position and expose at least a portion of the cutting edge when the blade holder is in the advanced position; and a stop disposed in the distal portion and adapted to stabilize an object to be cut against the cutting edge while the blade holder moves from the withdrawn position toward the advanced position.

摘要： A prosthetic spinal disc includes a cushioning member encased in a flexible sac and positioned between a pair of opposing endplates. A pair of retainer members are also located inside the sac to secure the sac to the endplates. The cushioning member is expandable from a first configuration to a second configuration. The disc is insertable into the spinal column as a single piece with the cushioning member in the first configuration and thereafter expanded to the second configuration to support and space apart adjacent vertebrae. The cushioning member may be replaced or revised without disturbing the placement of the endplates.

摘要： The present invention is related to spinal stabilization devices. More particularly, this invention relates to devices for addressing back pain originating in the facet joints and the spinous processes of the vertebrae. One embodiment of the present invention includes a substantially T-shaped facet implant for insertion between the facets of two successive vertebrae after a desired amount of the articulating surfaces have been resected. The long and flat portion of the T-shaped facet implant is inserted in between the facets and then the wings of the T-shape, also called fixation tabs, are secured to the spine to secure the facet implant into place. The T-shape implant may also be a part of a spinal stabilization system that includes a facet implant, a spinous process spacer, and a flexible connecting member securing the same.
