摘要： The present invention provides a disc cartridge assembly, by which loading/unloading of a disc is facilitated to enable both one use in a cartridge state and the other a use as a single disc entity. The present invention includes a lower case having a window for a drive access, an upper case provided onto the lower case, the upper case having an exposure window provided to a central part to expose a label face of a disc, a rotating ring rotatably provided within the upper and lower cases to receive an outer circumference of the disc, at least one shutter provided within the upper and lower cases to open/close the window by interoperating with a rotation of the rotating ring, and a rotating means for rotating the rotating ring by interoperating with an external device.

摘要： A high-density read-only optical disc, and an optical disc apparatus and method using the same. The apparatus and method record data on a lead-in area of a high-density read-only optical disc such as a BD-ROM (Blu-ray disc ROM (Read Only Memory)) in the form of pre-pit strings associated with an HFM (High-Frequency Modulated) groove applied to a BD-RW (Blu-ray Disc Rewritable). Moreover, the apparatus and method continuously apply the same tracking servo operation to an entire area of the same high-density read-only optical disc or rewritable optical disc. Therefore, the apparatus and method can simplify an algorithm for controlling a plurality of tracking servo operations, and avoid an increased size of the optical disc apparatus.

摘要： The present invention relates to a high-density optical disk having thin film layer made from a thermochromic polymer with a red-shift which exhibits self-focusing and optical bleaching. After an incident light beam passes through the polymer medium, not only can the spot size of the beam be reduced but also transmittance can be enhanced due to these kinds of third-order nonlinear optical response. Thus, a high-density disk structured according to the present invention is capable of the signal reproduction resolution beyond the diffraction limit with an efficient reflectivity. Accordingly, data recording density of a high-density disk can be improved greatly.

In the present invention, an order on which servo-control manner is sequentially applied is determined in advance based on various depth to respective recording layers of a CD, a DVD, and a high-density DVD, and when a disk is placed a servo-control manner is sequentially selected in the determined order. Therefore, a collusion between a disk and an optical pickup can be prevented for any type of disk.

摘要： An optical recording medium with a number of recording layers that is adaptive for enhancing a light efficiency and for improving a responsibility of information and a recording capacity. In the optical recording medium, at least one of recording layers in the number of recording layers are formed of a material having a non-linear optical characteristic. The recording layer made from the non-linear optical characteristic material has a higher reflective coefficient as a light intensity becomes stronger, thereby improving a light efficiency when a recording layer far away from the light source is accessed. Also, the recording layer made from the non-linear optical characteristic allows an effective diameter of a light spot to be reduced, thereby enlarging a recording capacity of the optical recording medium.
