摘要： A pad of air bag apparatus which, as a molded part, has an enhanced soft touch and which is protected against accelerated time-dependent changes in the physical properties of the pad's core and skin layers, wherein the pad covers the upper surface of an air bag apparatus which is to be mounted on the steering wheel of an automobile or in any other necessary areas. The pad includes of a skin layer formed of a soft first resin material and a core layer formed of a second resin material harder than the first resin material. The first resin material is a styrenic thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) or olefinic TPE having a hardness (JIS A) of 70 and less whereas the second resin material is a polyester based TPE having a flexural modulus of 1,000-4,000 kgf/cm.sup.2 (98-392 MPa) or a polyurethane based TPE having a flexural modulus of 1,000-2,500 kgf/cm.sup.2 (98-245 MPa).

The elastomer is made by blending an EPM with a styrene-containing thermoplastic elastomer in a ratio ranging from 80/20 to 20/80 by weight. In addition, copolymerization of the EPM produces a propylene content ranging from 21 to 40 mol %; 3 mol %.ltoreq.P-P.ltoreq. 12 mol %; and 35 mol %.ltoreq.E-P.ltoreq.50 mol % (where P-P is the dyad chain configuration (.sup.13 C-NMR) of the propylene-propylene bond; and E-P is the dyad chain configuration (.sup.13 C-NMR) of the ethylene-propylene bond).

摘要： A steering wheel for motor vehicles which is composed of a steering wheel base covered with a skin material of: (I) 10-50 parts by weight of a polyethylene resin (A); and (II) 90-50 parts by weight of a block copolymer (B) including a polymer block (a) of styrene or a derivative thereof and an isoprene polymer block or an isoprene-butadiene copolymer block (b), the polymer or copolymer block containing 40% or higher of isoprene units bonded at 3,4- position relative to the total isoprene units and 97% or more of the double bonds having been hydrogenated, (the total amount of the components (A) and (B) is 100 parts by weight). The skin material for the steering wheel is a soft, injection-moldable thermoplastic olefin elastomer composition having a low specific gravity and good wear resistance, which is capable of recycling and gives excellent feel of touch.
