    • A steering damper device includes a cylinder assembly having a plurality of fluid chambers providing a fluid circuit that is controlled by a control valve assembly which is operatively associated with a steering shaft to detect a steering force applied to the steering shaft. A flow rate control unit having a restriction for restricting a fluid flow in one direction is disposed in fluid passages which provide fluid communication between the fluid chambers through the control valve assembly. The steering damper device comprises an actuator in a hydraulically operated power steering apparatus including an oil pump and a reservoir tank. The cylinder assembly comprises a cylinder for generating an assistive steering force. The flow rate control unit restricts the flow flowing only from the control valve assembly to the oil pump.

    • A differential mechanism comprises a differential case assembly having a casing body connected to a source of drive force and a cap member coupled with the casing body to cover one opened end of the casing body, a plurality of input blocks housed in the case assembly and being movable circumferentially of the case assembly in correspondence with rotation of the casing body, and a pair of output cam members for clamping the input blocks relatively slidably and being independently rotatable owing to a frictional force produced with respect to each of the input blocks to thereby initiate a differential motion on an output side of the differential mechanism. The input blocks are provided in at least two different types and having projected portions. The projected portions of the input blocks of one type have a first upper end width while the projected portions of the input blocks of another type have a second upper end width different from the first upper end width. The casing body has first and second axial grooves provided on an inner peripheral surface thereof such that they extend axially of the differential mechanism. The axial grooves are shaped complementary to the projected portions of the input blocks for meshing engagement therewith. This arrangement prevents misassembling of the differential mechanism.

    • A front and rear wheel steering apparatus in a motor vehicle includes a front wheel steering mechanism and a rear wheel steering mechanism which are operatively coupled to front wheels and rear wheels rotatably supported on a vehicle frame for transmitting turning movement of a steering handlebar to the front and rear wheels. While the steering handlebar is being turned from a neutral position to a prescribed angle in one direction, the rear wheels are steered in the same direction as the front wheels, and while the steering handlebar is being turned from the prescribed angle to a maximum angle, the rear wheels are steered in the opposite direction to the front wheels. The front wheel steering angle reaches a maximum value when the steering handlebar is turned to the prescribed angle, and substantially remains at the maximum value even when the steering handlebar is further turned beyond the prescribed angle. The motor vehicle also has a rear swing arm vertically swingably mounted on the vehicle frame and supporting the rear wheels. A junction between a most downstream component of the rear wheel steering mechanism which is coupled to the vehicle frame and a most upstream component thereof which is coupled to the rear swing arm is positioned on a swing axis of the rear swing arm.
