摘要： A manufacturing machine for manufacturing a wrapping paper web for cigarettes with a low ignition propensity has a coating device (3) at a coating position defined in a travel path (2) of web (W). The coating device (3) has a rotary screen (4) and a gravure roller (6) located on the opposite sides of the travel path (2) and functioning as back rollers for each other. The rotary screen (4) intermittently applies a liquid burning inhibitor onto one side of the web (W) to form a number of band layers (B) arranged at predetermined intervals in a travelling direction of the web (W), and the gravure roller (6) applies water onto the other side of the web (W) to form wet bands (A) arranged alternately with the band layers (B) in the traveling direction of the web (W).

The packing 18a covers the opening of a movable cylinder 10 and is relatively pressed with the end face of a filter cigarette FT. The packing 18a includes a hole 18c positioned to coincide with the center of the end face against the packing, an inner circular area 18f surrounding the hole 18c, and an outer circular area 18g surrounding the inner circular area 18f. The outer circular area 18g is elastically deformed more easily than the inner circular area 18f and is brought into tight contact with the outer circumferential edge of the end face pressed against the packing.

摘要： When tobacco shreds continuously supplied while the supply amount thereof is controlled are wrapped continuously with an elongated cigarette paper to form a tobacco rod and the tobacco rod is cut to predetermined lengths to manufacture cigarettes, the filling amount (filling density) of tobacco shreds at every portion in the lengthwise direction of tobacco rod is continuously measured in connection with the wrapping operation of the tobacco rod. The filling amount (momentary value) at every portion of the tobacco rod is compared with threshold values set in advance to detect a local excess filling portion and/or deficient filling portion of the tobacco shreds. This detection result is output in synchronization with the conveying timing of a cigarette having a predetermined length continuously cut from the tobacco rod, by which a cigarette including the local excess filling portion or deficient filling portion of tobacco shreds can be rejected surely.
