摘要： A workbench of pallet rack construction where the front to back distance between vertical posts is set to accommodate an integral number of off-the-shelf lumber pieces to be laid side by side and parallel to the cross members as a work surface. Cross members containing and upper and lower lip enable the workbench top surface to be continuous from front to back, minimizing the gaps between lumber pieces and allowing off-the-shelf lumber pieces to support the lumber pieces used for the top surface. An additional right angle brace spanning from the front to back horizontal cross member and attaching to the cross members prevents disengagement of the cross members under table top vibration, and allows for a continuous workbench surface by enabling a butt joint for two sets of commercial off-the-shelf lumber spanning in either direction from the center of the vertical posts.

摘要： A modular workbench assembly is presented that provides the user with an infinite number of potential workbench configurations with varying quantities of lower shelf sets, drawer sets, and upper shelf sets. This invention allows economical continual workbench lengthwise expansion by featuring a unique leg assembly and a unique upper shelf assembly that permit a specified number of dimensional lumber pieces to span and fasten to its top surface, or allows the fastening of twice as many dimensional lumber pieces forming a butt joint at the central vertical axis of both the leg assembly and the upper shelf assembly. The leg vertical member of U-shaped cross section features a pair of outward and opposite lengthwise protruding flanges and features a pair of adjacent lateral mounting surfaces so that lateral members, lengthwise members and upward members can be installed simultaneously using a unique, common interlocking fastening scheme which prevents the members from becoming loose under a vibration environment. A unique upper shelf assembly is presented that snaps into place on a leg assembly and is fully adjustable. The upper shelf assembly permits installation of additional structural members onto the leg assembly without removal of the upper shelf assembly from the leg assembly. A universal drawer rail assembly is presented that enables quick and sturdy assembly that is fully interchangeable as either a left drawer rail or a right drawer rail.

摘要： A household workbench assembly (1) that utilizes dry dimensional lumber, plywood, metal, and plastic to provide a versatile, rugged workbench, requiring minimal assembly time and having a pleasing cosmetic outer appearance. The versatility and simplicity of the workbench design comes from the unique primary metal leg design (2) that allows rapid attachment of all components (3-8). The leg (2) is constructed as a load bearing metal structural frame with a front to back length equal to the product of the average width of a specific type of dry dimensional lumber (7) times an integer number of pieces. Holes (12) located along the top surface of the metal leg and spaced appropriately provide for attachment of dry dimensional lumber and prevent the lumber from warping or splitting. Brace attachment holes (13) pre-drilled symmetrically about the vertical axis of the leg (2) and along the sides of each vertical member provide for attachment of all lateral and drawer support braces (3,4,5). There are two lateral support braces: one long lateral brace (3), which sets the width between a pair of legs (2) to a standard plywood width of 48 inches, and a short lateral brace (4), which sets the width for a standard plastic injection-molded drawer (6). With the use of a standard metal leg (2) and three types of braces (3,4,5) and commercially available dry dimensional lumber (7), also called “framing” lumber, workbench configurations of no drawers and no shelves, just plywood shelves (8), just drawers (6), or a combination of drawers and shelves can be readily configured with minimal time.
