    • A plane commutator includes a plurality of commutator segments made of carbon compound, a resinous boss member having a body portion supporting a base portion of the commutator segments and an outer peripheral portion supporting an outer periphery of the same and a plurality of metal base plates. Each metal base plate has a contact portion in contact with the base portion of the commutator segment, an axial portion extending along a peripheral portion of the boss member and a terminal portion. The axial portion of the metal base plates is disposed on an outer periphery of the plane commutator in parallel with the outer peripheral portions of the boss member to separate the outer peripheral portion from the body portion. The outer peripheral portion moves freely from the body portion as the metal base plates thermally expand.

    • A plane commutator includes a plurality of commutator segments made of carbon compound, a resinous boss member and a plurality of metal base plates. The plurality of the commutator segments forms a disk-like commutator surface at an end thereof and a base portion at the other end. The resinous base member is disposed in contact with the base portion to support the plurality of commutator segments. Each commutator segment has a projection extending from the base portion, and each base plate has an expansible through hole fitted to the projection. Each projection includes metal powder at portion in contact with the through hole to provide good electrical connection.

    • A lid member is mounted to the fuel tank to cover an opening of the fuel tank. A fuel pump is arranged in the fuel tank to pump fuel in the fuel tank. A module case supports the fuel pump. A pump module includes fuel component protruding from a lateral side of the module case in a projection, which is viewed from a side of the lid member. A supporting member is connected with the lid member and the module case to support the pump module in the fuel tank. The lid member supports the pump module via the supporting member. The module case includes a connecting portion that connects with the supporting member. The connecting portion protrudes from the module case to the lateral side of the module case. The connecting portion is arranged in an imaginary circle that passes through outer peripheries of the module case and the fuel component in the projection. The imaginary circle accommodates the module case and the fuel component in the projection.

    • In a fuel supply device disposed in a fuel tank, a pump module is constructed with at least a fuel pump, a fuel filter and a pressure regulator, and is installed in a sub-tank. A filter case of the fuel filter has first ribs and second ribs, so that an axially position between the pump module and the sub-tank is set by the first ribs, and a circumferential position therebetween is set by the second ribs. Further, a fuel inlet of a jet pump is formed in an inner bottom surface of the sub-tank, and an inner surface of the fuel inlet of the jet pump is tapered. Therefore, a fuel outlet of the pressure regulator is guided while being connected to the fuel inlet of the jet pump. Accordingly, the fuel supply device can be assembled easily.

    • An impeller is employed for a fuel pump and boosts a pressure of fuel by rotating the fuel in a pump passage formed in the fuel pump in a rotational direction of the impeller. The impeller includes a plurality of vane grooves formed adjacent to each other in the rotational direction of the impeller and a plurality of vanes formed adjacent to each other in the rotational direction. Each one of the plurality of vanes divides one of adjacent two of the plurality of vane grooves from the other. A difference between a maximal value and a minimum value of an adjacent vane angle is set in a range of 2.5° to 4°. A fuel pump includes a motor unit, the impeller, and a casing member. The impeller is rotated by rotation driving force of the motor unit. The casing member rotatably receives the impeller and defines the pump passage.

    • A casing includes a C-shaped casing side pump groove along blades of an impeller. A casing cover also includes a casing cover side pump groove facing the casing side pump groove. The casing side pump groove and the casing cover side pump groove form a pump fluid passage. A gap is provided between an outer surface of the pump grooves and the impeller. Depth, and outer and inner diameters of a pump groove starts to gradually change from a fuel upstream side of a fuel outlet. The depth of the pump groove gradually decreases, the outer diameter of the pump groove gradually decreases to approach an outer diameter of the impeller, and the inner diameter of the pump groove gradually increases to approach the outer diameter of the impeller. The pump groove ends at a downstream side of the fuel outlet.
