    • An oil-extended copolymer for sponge comprising an ethylene-&agr;-olefin nonconjugated diene copolymer satisfying the following conditions (1) to (4), and an extender oil in an amount of 10 to 90 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of said copolymer. (1) a weight ratio of ethylene/&agr;-olefin of 73/27 to 40/60, (2) an iodine value of 20 to 36 which represents a non-conjugated diene content, (3) a Mooney viscosity (ML 1+4 (121° C.) in Mooney viscosity according to JIS-K-6300) of 100 to 180 as measured for a mixture formed by compounding 20 parts by weight of an extender oil based on 100 parts by weight of said copolymer, and (4) a Q-value (a weight average of molecular chain/number average of molecular chain) of 3 to 5 as measured by gel-permeation chromatography (GPC) of said copolymer.

    • Continuous casting process for the production of hollow ingot using an improved direct chill casting equipment having a molding system comprising a hollow mold and a movable platform, wherein at least one core and a pipe for introducing outer air are provided, said core being made from a refractory material unwettable with a molten metal and having a convergent taper at the side and an air runner for introducing outer air, which is packed with an air-permeable material, at the bottom, and said pipe for introducing outer air extending upwards from the air runner and passing through the core. The continuous casting process comprises continuously pouring a molten metal into a space surrounded with the hollow mold and the core of the above equipment; cooling the molten metal only at the side wall of the hollow mold without cooling at the side of the core; thereby solidifying the molten metal to form an ingot having a hollow, wherein the interface of the frozen metal and the liquid metal is present at the position around the core; and continuously lowering the ingot thus formed while introducing spontaneously outer air into the hollow part via the pipe for introducing outer air and the air runner of the core.

    • There are provided: (i) a process for producing a foamed rubber having a density of less than 0.50 g/cm3, which comprises the step of foaming and cross-linking a rubber composition containing (i) an ethylene-&agr;-olefin copolymer rubber, (ii) a vulcanizing agent and (iii) a foaming agent having a particle diameter of not more than 10 &mgr;m in terms of a median diameter, wherein an amount of the foaming agent exceeds 4.0 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the ethylene-&agr;-olefin copolymer rubber, and (ii) a sealing material for car use, which comprises the foamed rubber obtained by the above-mentioned process for producing a foamed rubber.
