    • A process for preparing a catalyst composition containing a copper oxide, a zinc oxide and an aluminum oxide as essential components and, if desired, containing a boron oxide, which comprises the following steps:(a) a step of precipitating from an aqueous solution of a water-soluble copper salt, which solution, if desired, may contain a water-soluble boron compound, a copper component, together with a boron component if the boron compound is present, with the use of ammonium carbonate or ammonium bicarbonate as a precipitant;(b) a step of precipitating from an aqueous solution of a water-soluble zinc salt, which solution, if desired, may contain a water-soluble boron compound, a copper component, together with a boron component if the boron compound is present, with the use of an alkali hydroxide as a precipitant; and(c) a step of calcing a mixture of the precipitates obtained in the steps (a) and (b) in the presence of an alumina precursor compound.The catalyst thus obtained is useful in synthesizing methanol from a mixed gas comprising carbon monoxide and/or carbon dioxide and hydrogen.

    • The invention provides a display medium having a dimmer layer which comprises at least two kinds of charged mobile fine particles. Each of the at least two kinds of the charged mobile fine particles respectively has different coloration and a different mobility, and the charged mobile fine particles of at least one kind of the at least two kinds show coloration when in a dispersed state. The invention further provides a display device having an electric field forming unit and the dimmer layer. The invention further provides a display method which uses the display medium and includes putting the charged mobile fine particles of at least one of the kinds being dispersed while having other charged mobile fine particles not being dispersed.

    • A non-aqueous ink-jet ink composition contains at least a pigment, a solvent, and a dispersing agent. The non-aqueous ink-jet ink composition further contains a chelating agent, which is soluble in the solvent. The chelating agent may be a crown ether and/or a cryptand, which acts as a neutral carrier. Alternatively, the chelating agent may be at least one chelating agent acting as an ionic carrier, which is selected from the group consisting of GEDTA, BAPTA, and DTPA. The non-aqueous ink-jet ink composition has good storage stability and good jetting-out performance through suppression of occurrence of sediments due to a change with the passage of time.
