    • A lens-fitted photo film unit includes a flash emitter for emitting flash light toward a photographic object in flash photography. A flash amount control circuit quenches flash emission of the flash emitter when a value of integration of light reflected by the object as measured by a first sensor in the flash photography comes up to a predetermined level. An aperture stop device designates one of a large aperture state and a small aperture state. A switch disables the flash amount control circuit if the small aperture state is designated, and enables the flash amount control circuit if the large aperture state is designated. The switch regulates operation of the flash amount control circuit in order to raise an amount of the flash light at a time of the flash photography in the small aperture state.

    • In a lens-fitted photo film unit, a flash device has a booster circuit including primary and secondary windings, the secondary winding generating high voltage when power source voltage is applied to the primary winding. A main capacitor is charged by the high voltage in the secondary winding. A flash discharge tube is connected in parallel with the main capacitor, for emitting flash light upon discharge with electric energy from the main capacitor. A trigger circuit discharges the flash discharge tube upon a switching operation. A photo transistor measures reflected light from an object illuminated by the flash light, to output a light amount signal. A light amount control circuit quenches discharge of the flash discharge tube when an integration value of the light amount signal comes up to a predetermined value. A powering voltage generator circuit is connected with the secondary winding, for generating powering voltage adapted for powering the light amount control circuit in response to operation of the trigger circuit.

    • A first light guide and a second light guide are attached to a flash charge switch. Each light guide is arranged in a direction where the flash charge switch is slid. If the flash charge switch is in an OFF position, the first light guide transmits light from a photometric window to a photo sensor. If the flash charge switch is in an ON position, the second light guide transmits the light through the photometric window to the photo sensor. As the first light guide has a short distance from an incident end to the photometric window, the incident end has a large incident angle and brighter light is transmitted to the photosensor. As the second light guide has a long distance from the incident end to the photometric window, weak light is transmitted to the photo sensor. When an output signal of the photo sensor is above a predetermined value, a solenoid is activated to set a stop plate on a photographic light path. The stop plate is formed with a small stop aperture. If the stop plate is retired from the photographic light path, a normal stop aperture having a larger size than that of the small stop aperture is used. A flash photography and a daylight photography are different from each other in type of the light guides being used, thus a threshold of subject brightness as a reference point for setting the small stop aperture depends upon that.

    • When a distance measured by an AF range finding section is of a predetermined value or thereabove, even if a slide plate is moved in an interlocking relation with a releasing operation of a release button, a gear is locked by the electromagnetic actuator, whereby a diffusion plate is not moved from a position retracted from a strobe, so that an attainable distance of strobe-lights can be extended. On the other hand, when the distance measured by the AF range finding section is of less than the predetermined value, the slide plate is moved in an interlocking relation with the releasing action of the release button and the gear is rotated through a biasing force of a spring, whereby the diffusion plate is positioned in front of the strobe to cover the strobe. Accordingly, the strobe-lights can be reduced in light quantities, so that the optimal exposure can be attained.

    • A flash charging circuit has first and second transistors (TR1, TR2) which are connected to opposite terminals of a primary coil of a transformer, a battery is connected to a center tap provided in a middle portion of the primary coil, and first and second drive pulse signals (S1, S2) are applied to the first and second transistors to drive them alternately with each other, to induce an alternating secondary current in a secondary coil of the transformer. Each of the first and second drive pulse signals have a shorter pulse duration (Pd) than a pulse separation (Ps). The phases of the first and second drive pulse signals are determined such that both the first and second drive pulse signals take a low level for a time (Ta) before and after each drive pulse of the first and second drive pulse signals, so that both the first and second transistors are OFF immediately before either of them is turned ON.
