摘要： Disclosed is a negative electrode for a lithium ion secondary battery, the negative electrode including a negative electrode current collector with protrusions formed on a surface thereon, and columnar bodies being carried on the protrusions and comprising an alloy active material capable of absorbing and releasing lithium ions. The columnar bodies each have a multilayer structure in which a plurality of unit layers comprising the alloy active material are stacked sequentially on the surface of the protrusion, and the average layer thickness of the unit layer in a region within 20% of the thickness of the columnar body extending from the surface of the protrusion is smaller than that in a region within 80% of the thickness of the columnar body extending from the top of the columnar body.

The columns 12 include a negative electrode active material including either one of silicon and tin, and further include lithium absorbed thereinto. The coating layer 15 contains at least one of lithium carbonate and lithium fluoride and is formed by exposing the columns 12 to an atmosphere with a dew point temperature of −60° C. or higher and 0° C. or lower.

摘要： In a charge/discharge method for a positive-electrode active material in a lithium secondary battery, the lithium secondary battery includes a positive electrode containing a positive-electrode active material capable of occluding and releasing lithium ions, a negative electrode containing a negative-electrode active material capable of occluding and releasing lithium ions, a separator located between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and an electrolyte having a lithium ion conductivity; and the positive-electrode active material contains a nickel-type lithium-containing complex oxide. The positive electrode, which has been charged, is discharged until having a first potential VDp1 which is no less than 2.7 V and no more than 3.4 V on a lithium metal basis, and then the discharge is finished. Owing to this, the charge/discharge cycle life can be improved while the capacity of the lithium secondary battery is secured.

摘要： A battery pack includes at least a lithium ion secondary battery, a voltage sensor, and a control unit. The control unit controls discharge of the battery by a relatively high end-of-discharge voltage when the use frequency of the battery is relatively low during discharge of the battery. On the other hand, the control unit controls discharge of the battery by a relatively low end-of-discharge voltage when the use frequency of the battery is relatively high. Consequently, it is possible to prevent the utilizable capacity from decreasing more than a practical decrease in the capacity due to increase in the use frequency.

摘要： In the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery of the present invention, the separator includes a heat-resistant resin having chlorine atoms as an end group and the positive electrode active material includes a lithium-containing complex oxide containing aluminum atoms in its composition. Even if the chlorine atoms are liberated into the non-aqueous electrolyte, aluminum contained in the positive electrode active material is selectively leached into the non-aqueous electrolyte, thereby suppressing the leaching of other component elements. Consequently, there can be obtained a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery excellent in safety and high temperature storage characteristics.
