    • Embodiments of the present invention relate to a relay station and a method for adjusting output optical signals of the relay station. The relay station includes: a detection control unit, an output light stabilization unit, a reply stabilization unit, an adjustable gain amplification unit, and a pump light output unit. The method for adjusting output the optical signals of the relay station includes: adjusting a drive current which drives generation of pump light; adjusting a pilot tone modulation depth of an Alternating Current (AC) signal on which a replay signal is modulated; and finally, outputting a stable output optical signal through disturbed pump light. Adjusting the output optical signals and the pilot tone modulation depth of the AC signal on which the replay signal is modulated, the reply signals are stably output, thereby achieving the purpose of fixing the pilot tone modulation depth.

    • An optical signal identifying method and apparatus are provided. The optical signal identifying method includes: assigning signal IDs with different frequencies to optical signals with different wavelengths, where the signal IDs are controlled in an amplitude-modulation manner according to a binary data sequence; and distinguishing the optical signals with different wavelengths by using different signal IDs. A signal ID detecting method and apparatus, and an optical signal identifying and detecting system are further provided. The optical signals with different wavelengths are distinguished by using the signal IDs controlled in an amplitude-modulation manner according to the binary data sequence, and optical channels of the optical signals with different wavelengths are detected and information such as the optical power is obtained by detecting the signal IDs. Therefore, the number of the identification frequencies of the signal IDs required to distinguish the optical signals is small, and the complexity of detecting the signal IDs is reduced.

    • A method for locating a fault of a submarine cable, a device, and a communication system are provided. A light pulse output by a Repeater (RPT) is incident to a location of a fault as a probe light pulse. The RPT obtains a time difference between the probe light pulse and the reflected probe light pulse, and sends the time difference to a terrestrial Submarine Line Terminal Equipment (SLTE) so that the SLTE may easily locate the fault according to principles of an Optical Time Domain Reflector (OTDR). Compared with the prior art, the method may locate the fault of the submarine cable more quickly and accurately, so that maintainers may maintain the submarine cable in time.
