    • A shock and water resistant wireless pager enclosure comprises a bottom having thickened walls, a top lip and interior foam strips. The top edges of the strips are coplanar with the top. A transparent film is supported thereon and on the lip and secured by a cover removably hinged to the bottom by a protrusion at one end, through which a hinge pin passes. The protrusion and pin are accepted in a trough in the bottom. The bottom is rounded about the trough to facilitate the hinged motion. The pin prevents the cover from sliding laterally from the bottom. The bottom secures the pager, the cover is fixed thereto by screws, pinching the film between them. A cover loop proximate the protrusion facilitates opening of the cover and provides a mechanism for attaching a clip. The cover may be multi-coloured for easy identification. The bottom contains a ribbon strip to facilitate pager removal and/or an RFID device to locate the enclosure and thus the pager and/or the user.

    • The present invention provides a method and apparatus for dispensing a predetermined fixed amount of pre-stretched packaging material based upon load girth. A non-rotating ring carries a belt driven by a motor. A packaging material dispenser is mounted on a rotating ring, and the rotating ring may include a pulley that connects to the band, such that the rotating ring is driven by the drive belt. Based upon the girth of the load to be wrapped, an amount of pre-stretched packaging material to be dispensed for each revolution made by the rotating ring is determined. Good wrapping performance in terms of load containment (wrap force) and optimum packaging material use is obtained by dispensing a length of pre-stretched packaging material that is between approximately 90% and approximately 120% of load girth. Once the amount of packaging material to be dispensed per revolution is determined, a ratio of rotating ring drive to final pre-stretch surface speed (i.e., number of pre-stretch roller revolution/rotating ring rotation) can be set and mechanically controlled. Thus, for each revolution of the rotating ring and dispenser, a predetermined fixed amount of packaging material is dispensed and wrapped around the load. In an alternative embodiment, the ratio is electronically controlled.

    • The dispensing of substances from multi-chamber containers, such as tubes, can be controlled by the placement of a flow modifying unit in the dispensing nozzle of the container. The dispensing nozzle will have a plurality of channels, usually one for each chamber. The flow controlling unit is a constriction at an intermediate point, a point between the channel inlet and exit, in at least one of the channels. This constriction is sized to adjust flow so that the viscous substance from each chamber is dispensed at a set flow rate and in a set ratio, one to the other. The constriction is formed at the time that the nozzle is formed. In the compression molding process a mold pin is used, the mold pin meeting a mold base at an intermediate point in at least one channel. The mold pin and or mold base has a recess that is the size and shape of the flow modifying constriction. Plastic is injected into the mold and the flow modifying unit is formed at the same time as the nozzle.
