摘要： A system and method for a seamless splicing/spot insertion strategy for MPEG-2 digital video/audio transport stream with no previously encoded information. This strategy, considering the time dependency between MPEG-2 frames, results in a new stream with smooth transition from a main stream to a spot stream without any encoded mark increasing possibilities for utilization of MPEG-2 contents. This strategy further facilitates local and remote switching (like local advertisement insertion) and produces successful decoding and presentation of all MPEG-2 packets around the splicing point. It takes into account several kinds of MPEG-2 related discontinuities: transport header continuity counter gaps, temporal reference discontinuity for frame presentation and PCR/PTS/DTS discontinuities.

摘要： A system and method for re-mapping the Packet Identifier (PID)'s for a set of MPEG-2 single program streams prior to multiplexing onto one multi-program transport stream. The system eliminates any ambiguity when generating the multiplexed transport stream in 10 order to avoid PID conflicts when multiplexing several single programs containing non-unique PID values. The system includes a mechanism to assign new PID values, in such a way that it ensures that all new PID's are unique for the multiplexed transport stream. Furthermore, it performs this re-mapping in real-time as the packets are being transmitted over the multi-program transport stream.

One is performed in real-time and includes determining portions of a composite image of collaborative session content that are constant over time or preprocessed. The portions are removed from the composite image of the collaborative session content. Remaining content of the composite image and any of the portions not already compressed is compressed and stored. A second phase is performed when off-line and includes decoding the remaining content of the composite image and the portions to reconstruct the composite image of the collaborative session content and formatting the composite image.

摘要： For a network with a distributed hierarchical broadcast architecture, a method for efficiently and reliably distributing data content and remotely managing the storage of content. Both the distribution and the storage management methods are rule-based, utilizing network resources in an efficient manner. Simple and reliable mechanisms are provided for ensuring both data integrity and control over storage utilization. At each stage throughout the network hierarchy, content is distributed to nodes in the subsequent stage based on rules. The rules may be modified at each stage. Only one device in the hierarchy is required to maintain detailed information of the storage characteristics of storage devices and content therein in stages which are subsequent to it in the network. The recipient device owner specifies a set of preferences which may be used for local filtering, or which the owning (or other) entity may use to select data which targets the client's interests. The downloaded data may be presented to the client in the form of an interactive application, video, audio, still image, or other format.
