    • A noise signal prediction system includes a signal detector for receiving a mixed signal having a voice signal and a background noise signal and for detecting the presence and absence of the voice signal contained in the mixed signal. A noise level detector is provided for detecting an actual noise level at each sampling cycle during the absence of the voice signal. A storing circuit stores the noise levels for a predetermined number of past sampling cycles. A predicting circuit predicts a noise level of a next sampling cycle based on the stored noise levels in the storing circuit. The storing circuit receiving and stores the actual noise levels during the absence of the voice signal, but stores the predicted noise levels during the presence of the voice signal.

    • It is a primary object of the invention to provide a noise suppressing device in which the function to suppress or remove the noise is more improved than the conventional device.     • An intermittent analog voice signal is coded which is contained in an analog mixed signal having the intermittent analog voice signal mixed with a background analog noise signal. An analog-to-digital converter receives the analog mixed signal and generates a coded output signal by digitizing the analog mixed signal when a control signal is applied thereto and does not generate a coded output signal when the control signal is not applied thereto. A voice signal detector means receives the analog mixed signal and detects periods during which the analog voice signal is present in the analog mixed signal. A control signal generator generates the control signal applied to the analog-to-digital converter during voice periods detected by the voice signal detector during which the analog voice signal is present in the analog mixed signal. The analog mixed signal is thus digitized by the analog-to-digital converter only during the voice periods detected by the voice signal detector.
