    • An improved gear drive sprinkler has a pop-up spray head adapted for adjustable part-circle or full circle operation to deliver irrigation water over a selected terrain area. The sprinkler includes a pop-up riser; a gear drive transmission mounted within the riser includes a water-driven turbine for rotatably driving a speed reduction gear train, which in turn rotatably drives the spray head. A reverse assembly includes an upper trip unit defining an individually adjustable pair of end trip stops, and a lower shift mechanism including a shiftable director plate having first and second sets of angularly oriented jet nozzles for respective alignment with turbine jet ports for respectively driving the water-driven turbine and the gear train in a forward-drive or a reverse-drive direction. The upper trip is coupled to the director plate by an elongated trip rod which shifts the director plate between forward-drive and reverse drive positions. An adjustment cam can be manipulated to disable at least one of the end trip stops to permit spray head rotation through continuous full circle revolutions.

    • An irrigation sprinkler head has an auxiliary nozzle carrier for carrying extra nozzles. Each nozzle is held on a flexible and resilient nozzle carrier and supported on a sprinkler head by one of the nozzles on the nozzle carrier being operatively attached to the sprinkler head. The nozzles are rapidly exchanged on the sprinkler head by disconnecting one nozzle from the sprinkler head, and connecting a second nozzle to the sprinkler head without removing either nozzle from the carrier and without the use of tools. The nozzle carrier is flexible between the nozzle holding ends so that the nozzle carrier can flex between the ends thereof to absorb impact without damage and can be used below a crop line.

    • A rotary distributor head for a sprinkler is disclosed. In a particular embodiment, the head includes a stack of deflector pads axially aligned. The head also includes a plurality of distribution channels radially disposed on at least one deflector pad that are configured to distribute a stream of water over a surrounding area. A plurality of spiral grooves is disposed on at least one deflector pad that are configured to cause the head to rotate when the water is flowing through the grooves. In addition, the head includes an orifice on each upstream deflector pad configured to pass a portion of the stream of water through to an adjacent downstream deflector pad. The head controls a rotational speed while increasing the uniform wetted footprint of instantaneous impact under a range of operating pressures and flow rates.

In a particular embodiment, the assembly includes a chamber, a tapered flange projecting from an upstream edge of the chamber into a flow path of the assembly, where a proximate end of the flange attached to the chamber is tapered continuously to its distal end into the flow path.
