    • Embodiments of the present invention include methods and devices for trapping particulate matter suspended in exhaust from, for example, automotive diesel engines. Particulates carried in exhaust are actually a colloidal suspension of finely divided particulates in a fluid (in this case, the exhaust gases). This colloidal mixture is channeled through an open spiral exhaust channel. The particulates will differentially tend to travel through the fluid in a straight line, which leads them to collide with a fine mesh or porous material that defines the open spiral exhaust channel. The gas, on the other hand, will easily traverse the spirally shaped exhaust channel, with its molecules bouncing around the curved path of the spiral. Continuing through the device, more and more particulates will build up in the surrounding meshwork or porous material.

    • An improved energy conversion apparatus for use in charging energy storage capacitors for energizing flash lamp devices. A transformer has a primary winding coupled to a low voltage DC source and transistor switches and a secondary winding coupled to a chargeable capacitor. The transistor switches are turned on or off in response to current signals in the primary and secondary windings. A detection circuit senses the energy stored in the capacitor and supplies signals to the transistor switches to maintain energy stored in the capacitor at a predetermined level.

    • The present disclosure relates to a system and method for spraying one or more target objects. A primary blower system is adapted to create a relatively isolated field of circulating air by creating a primary air stream around the field of circulating air. A secondary blower system is adapted to circulate air within the isolated field by flowing a secondary air stream in directions contrary to the primary air stream. A chemical spray comprising liquid, aerosol droplets, particulate matter, or the like may be emitted into the circulating air within the field and thereby deposited on target objects within the field. Embodiments of the present disclosure may be used for agricultural, automotive, aerospace, and other applications to emit, contain, and/or recapture a spray.
