    • A resilient connector for maintaining an electrical conductor in side-by-side conductive engagement with a bus bar includes a generally loop- or O-shaped resilient contact body having a first end portion, an intermediate portion arranged generally normal to the intermediate portion, and a second end portion that is normally arranged at an acute angle relative to the contact intermediate portion, the contact first end portion containing a window opening having first and second opposed edges remote from and adjacent the intermediate portion, respectively, the second contact end portion being displaceable from a normal first position adjacent the first window edge toward a second position adjacent the second window edge, whereby when the second contact end is displaced to its second position and a conductor and a bus bar are introduced in side-by-side electrically conductive relation within the window, release of the second end portion causes the conductor and the bus bar to be clamped in tight electrical contact by the cooperation between the second contact end portion and by the first window edge. In order to prevent permanent distortion of the contact body, a stop member is mounted within the contact cavity for limiting movement of the second contact end beyond the second position. Consequently, the stop member permits the use of the contact arrangement in fixed pole applications where the bus bar and the compression spring are to be installed from above or below a housing within which the electrical components are contained.

    • An assembly for supporting an electrical terminal housing on a carrier rail is provided, including a pair of slide members connected with a guide portion of the housing for sliding movement between latched and released positions. The thickness of the guide is slightly greater than the thickness of the slide members to define a gap therebetween. Each of the slide members includes a lower hook portion engaging a leg of the carrier rail when the slide members are in the latched position to connect the terminal housing with the rail, and a spring is connected with the slide members for normally biasing the hook portions toward the latched position. A first abutment is connected with the housing and a second abutment is connected with the slide members, the second abutment being normally vertically offset from the first abutment by a distance corrsponding with the thickness of the gap. When the housing is lifted with respect to the slide members, the gap is closed and the first and second abutments are arranged opposite each other to prevent lateral movement of the slide members toward the released positions, thereby to prevent unintentional removal of the terminal housing from the carrier rail.

    • A connector for clamping one or more electrical conductors has a shackle which cooperates with a screw serving to urge one end portion of a rail toward a bottom wall of the shackle. The bottom wall has a central portion flanked by two convergent lateral portions which guide one or more conductors against the internal surface of the central portion when the screw causes the end portion of the rail to approach the bottom wall. The underside of the end portion of the rail has a centrally located platform whose underside urges the conductor or conductors against the central portion of the bottom wall and which is assisted by two ridges disposed between pairs of recesses in the end portion of the rail. The lateral portions of the bottom wall have notches which receive portions of the platform, and the recesses receive portions of the corresponding lateral wall portions. The undersides of the ridges can constitute concave surfaces to further enhance the gathering, centering and clamping effect of the end portion of the rail when the screw is rotated in a direction to advance the end portion toward the inner side of the bottom wall.

    • A connector assembly is operable to connect a conductor with a generally U-shaped ground rail having a pair of upwardly extending legs that terminate in outwardly directed flange portions, including a conductive plate having a body panel that extends transversely above the rail. At a first end, the body panel included a downwardly extending hook portion the extends in locking relation beneath the flange portion of the associated first rail; at its other end, a first plate support panel is connected with the bottom of the body pane for bending movement about a first generally horizontal fold lined to a support position generally normal to the body panel and in engagement with the upper surface of the flange portion of the other rail. In the preferred embodiment, the first and second connectors are electrical devices connected with electrical or electronic circuits contained within the component.
