    • The invention is directed at a disposable dry cleansing article that is formed from a melt extruded fibrous web that has incorporated into the fibers forming the web from 0.5 to 20 percent by weight of a melt extruded lathering surfactant. The invention, dry article generally comprises a melt extruded fibrous web of a thermoplastic polymer having a basis weight of from about 10 to 200 g/m2, preferably 10 to 150 g/m2 wherein the fibers have a lathering surfactant incorporated into the fiber at a level that allows the article to be used two (2) or more times with a rinse foam volume of 15 or more, with an initial foam volume of at least 50 ml.The novel melt extruded web can be made by the following sequential steps: (a) providing to an extruder a thermoplastic resin, such as polypropylene; (b) blending into the resin a lathering surfactant at a temperature at which the surfactant is not significantly degraded; (c) forming the blend into melt extruded fibers, (d) collecting the fibers, (e) forming the fibers into a web and optionally, further treating the web by coating additional components, laminating to further layers or consolidating for strength or the like.

    • The present invention concerns an extrusion formed reticulated web, mesh or netting including reticulated hook fasteners for use with hook and loop fasteners the polymer netting comprising two sets of strands at angles to each other. The first set of strands are a plurality of oriented (molecular orientation created by stretching) strands extending in a first direction and are generally mutually parallel and linear. The second set of strands are a plurality of substantially parallel strands attached only to a first face of the first set of oriented strands. The first set of oriented strands occupy a first planar cross-sectional area in the thickness direction of the formed netting. Said second set of oriented strands occupy a second planar cross-sectional area in the thickness direction of the formed netting. Preferably, these first and second planar cross-sectional areas are substantially mutually exclusive and are abutting. The polymer netting is preferably made by extruding a thermoplastic resin through a die plate, which die plate is shaped to form a base film layer and spaced ridges or ribs projecting from a surface of the base layer. The spaced ridges or ribs formed by the die form the first set of strands forming the reticulated mesh or netting. The second set of transverse strands are formed by transversely cutting the base layer at spaced locations along a length, at a transverse angle to the ridges or ribs, to form discrete cut portions. Subsequently longitudinal stretching of the ridges (in the direction of the ridges or the machine direction) separates these cut portions of the backing, which cut portion then form the second set of spaced apart strands of the reticulated mesh or netting.

    • There is provided a loop laminate for use in a hook and loop fastening system or a hook and loop fastening system. The loop laminate first comprises a backing layer, having a first face and a second face. The backing layer has a plurality of elevated projections extending from at least the first face of the backing layer wherein some of the projections extend by a distance of at least 50 μm. A loop material is attached to at least some of the projections such that said loop material is raised off the backing layer over at least some portion of the distance between adjacent attached projections to allow for hook heads of hooks to easily penetrate the loop material. The hook fastening material has hooks that are arranged in a manner so as to not substantially engage the projections when the hook fastener is engaged with the loop laminate
