    • A fixing device includes a temperature measuring unit, configured to measure the temperature in regions that extend partially along the outer surface of a heating rotating body, which includes a resistance heating layer, in the circumferential direction and are aligned in the direction of the axis of rotation of the heat rotating body, and a control unit configured to sample temperatures, measured by the temperature measuring unit in each of the regions, over the entire outer surface of the heating rotating body in the circumferential direction by causing the heating rotating body to rotate while supplying a predetermined amount of power to the resistance heating layer, and to determine whether an abnormality has occurred in the resistance heating layer based on the difference between the maximum temperature and the minimum temperature among the sampled temperatures in each region.

    • The present invention provides an X-ray CT apparatus capable of obtaining each tomographic image indicative of X-ray tube voltage dependent information of a subject with the optimum image quality by less reduced exposure. The X-ray CT apparatus includes device for setting a plurality of X-ray tube voltages and sets imaging conditions used in the photography using the respective X-ray tube voltages in such a manner that respective image noise of tomographic images photographed at the X-ray tube voltages become substantially identical to one another. The setting of the imaging conditions is the setting of X-ray tube currents. The X-ray tube currents are set based on geometrical characteristic amounts of the subject determined from each scout image in such a manner that the respective image noise of the tomographic images photographed at the plurality of X-ray tube voltages become substantially identical to one another.

    • The present invention provides an imaging control method, which allows cardiac imaging of better quality to be obtained and an X-ray CT apparatus suitable for such imaging control. In order to control the start timing of the imaging by an X-ray CT apparatus, the method comprises computing the heart rate of the subject, and starting the imaging when the heart rate is stably settled. The heart rate computation is conducted on the heartbeats during the breath holding period. The start of imaging is automatic or manual when the heart rate stability is well fallen within the tolerance. The manual start of imaging is based on the indication that the heart rate stability is fallen within the tolerance. The manual start may also be based on the indication of the heartbeats or the transition of heart rate stability.
