    • A method of encoding video signals includes obtaining, averaging, offsetting, and replacing steps. In the obtaining step, a first value comprising a value of a video characteristic for a first portion of a first video signal and a second value comprising a value of the video characteristic for a second portion of a second video signal are obtained. In the averaging step, the first value and the second value are averaged to obtain an average value. In the offsetting step, the average value is offset by a first predetermined offset to obtain a first offset value and the average value is offset by a second predetermined offset to obtain a second offset value. In the replacing step, the first value is replaced with the first offset value on the first signal and the second value is replaced with the second offset value on the second video signal.

    • An adjustable attachment mechanism includes an elongate shaft, first and second seats disposed on opposite ends of the shaft, first and second collars, and an actuator. The first and second collars are disposed to translate along the elongate shaft. An inner surface of the first collar cooperates with the first seat to define a first receptacle and an inner surface of the second collar cooperates with the second seat to define a second receptacle. The actuator is in communication with the first and second collars and is actuable to selectively traverse the first and second collars along the shaft in a first direction away from each other and in a second direction toward each other, the movement in the first direction loosening the first and second receptacles and the movement in the second direction tightening the first and second receptacles.

    • A system for estimating a length of a conductor (110) having a first end (111) and a second end (112) includes a device (120) capable of placing an electric signal on the conductor, an impedance element (130) that maintains the electric signal within a predetermined voltage range, and a timer (140). The device places the electric signal on the conductor such that the electric signal travels along the conductor from the first end to the second end and back to the first end. The timer determines a time required for the electric signal to travel along the conductor from the first end to the second end and back to the first end. The length of the conductor may be estimated based on the time. A compensation factor may be determined based on the length or the time, and may be used to compensate for signal attenuation in the conductor.
