    • An interface device for a communication network comprises a plurality of first communication nodes and a plurality of second communication nodes, wherein the interface device comprises a switching unit and a transmit-/receive aerial. The switching unit is capable of being coupled, so as to be able to communicate, to each of the first communication nodes and to each of the second communication nodes, and is configurable for transmitting a communication message between one of the first communication nodes and a second communication node, which may be unambiguously allocated to said first communication node. The switching unit may be coupled to the transmit-/receive aerial for wireless communication with each of the second communication nodes by way of the transmit-/receive aerial that may be shared for communicating with each of the second communication nodes.

    • In a cell based EUI, existing display container cells nested within a “host” display container cell are automatically shifted and/or downsized, if necessary, to increase available space to facilitate the creation of another display container cell nested within the “host” display container cell, in response to a request to perform the creation. Similar shifting and/or downsizing are performed to facilitate expansion of one of the nested display container cells; and shifting and upsizing are performed to facilitate contraction of one of the nested display container cells. Like kind of shifting and/or downsizing/upsizing are performed on existing display container cell to facilitate creation, expansion or contraction of a display action cell. The hierarchical relationship of the display container and action cells, and the automatic relative resizing of the container and action cells enable user interactions otherwise unavailable under prior art EUI.

    • In an aircraft galley, a power network distributes power from a source to electrical consuming devices (oven, water boiler, coffee machine, trash compactor, etc.). A control unit is connected to and can individually address each of the devices via a databus. The control unit compares the actual existing power consumption to a prescribed maximum value. If the actual consumption reaches the maximum value, the control unit calls up a power reduction procedure from a catalog in a database, and provides corresponding control signals to one or more of the devices to reduce the power consumption below the maximum value. The individual devices receive power in a time-sharing, power-sharing, or time-staggered manner. An intelligent distribution of available power resources avoids power overloads, and allows optimal utilization of all galley devices without limiting the normal catering process.
