In a body block 46 of a box-shaped expansion valve there are formed by-passes 77, 81 and 86 for by-passing a portion of the refrigerant evaporated in an evaporator 41. Halfway in the by-passes 77, 81 and 86 a cooling cylinder 73 is disposed for cooling the refrigerant present in those by-passes, and further a filter 83 is disposed for collecting the water contained in the refrigerant. In addition, a water permeating membrane 88 is disposed in a water discharge passage 79 formed in the body block 46.

摘要： An oil separator used in a refrigerating system. The oil separator comprises a body for forming a centrifugal oil separating chamber and an oil storage chamber, with a separating plate dividing the chambers. An inlet passage is connected tangentially to the oil separating chamber, to cause a swirl in the chamber, and a medium outlet passage extends inwardly from an end wall into the oil separating chamber. An oil outlet passage(s) is provided in the separating plate at a position near a periphery thereof. The oil separator body is formed integrally with the compressor housing and a ring member is fitted in an inner surface of the oil storage chamber, and a helically shaped narrow groove is provided on the outer surface thereof to form an oil returning passage. Also, the oil outlet passage can be provided in the separating plate at a position lower than a highest level of the oil storage chamber, thereby allowing the chambers to be arranged in a horizontal side by side relationship.

摘要： In an ejector cycle system using carbon dioxide as refrigerant, an ejector decompresses and expands refrigerant from a radiator to suck gas refrigerant evaporated in an evaporator, and converts an expansion energy to a pressure energy to increase a refrigerant pressure to be sucked into a compressor. Because refrigerant is decompressed and expanded in a super-critical area, a pressure difference during the decompression operation becomes larger, and a specific enthalpy difference becomes larger. Accordingly, energy converting efficiency in the ejector becomes higher, and efficiency of the ejector cycle system is improved.

摘要： In a CO.sub.2 refrigerant cycle, a lubricating oil for a compressor has a compatibility relative to CO.sub.2 refrigerant, and the compatibility of the lubricating oil relative to the CO.sub.2 refrigerant at a pressure lower than a critical pressure of the CO.sub.2 refrigerant is lower than that at a pressure higher than the critical pressure of the CO.sub.2 refrigerant. Thus, in a low-pressure side such as an accumulator of the CO.sub.2 refrigerant cycle, because a liquid lubricating oil is separated with a liquid CO.sub.2 refrigerant, only the lubricating oil can be readily introduced into a suction side of the compressor, and it can prevent the liquid CO.sub.2 refrigerant from being sucked into the compressor. As a result, it can prevent a damage to the compressor while preventing deterioration of coefficient of performance of the CO.sub.2 refrigerant cycle.

When this is heated by an electric heater, there is discharge of the refrigerant gas that was adsorbed up to then so that passage of current to the electric heater stops and there is adsorption of the refrigerant gas at normal temperature to a saturation state. As a result, if the electric current to the electric heater is stopped so that the adsorbent adsorbs the refrigerant gas, the pressure in the thermosensitive chamber (hermetically sealed space) drops and an expansion valve closes completely.

摘要： When heating up the water in the lower inner part of a hot water tank by a heat pump unit, a control unit stops the heat-up operation while leaving the hot water in an amount corresponding to the residual water capacity in the hot water tank detected by water level thermistors. In the heat-up operation in the hot water tank, the residual hot water capacity in the tank is first detected, then the heat-up operation is stopped when the residual hot water reaches an amount corresponding to the detected residual hot water capacity. At this point, the hot water is stored so that the hot water newly heated up by the heat pump unit is laid above the residual hot water for the preceding day. Consequently, the reduction in the operating efficiency of the heat pump cycle is prevented without supplying the medium-temperature residual hot water to a condenser.

摘要： A heat pump type hot-water supply system performs an ordinary operation for heating liquid stored in a reservoir by circulating the liquid in a heat exchanger for supplying hot water. When an outlet temperature of an exterior heat exchanger is lowered to about −5° C., the ordinary operation is switched to a defrosting operation, and an opening degree of an expansion valve is decreases as compared to that at the ordinary operation. Accordingly, hot gas discharged from a compressor radiates a decreased amount of thermal energy in the heat exchanger for supplying the hot gas. Hot gas discharged from the compressor can reach the exterior heat exchanger without lowering its temperature largely to perform defrosting of the exterior heat exchanger.
