    • A magnetic head is disclosed which includes in a preferred embodiment a head core (1) sandwiched between a first slider (2) and a second slider (3) both bonded to the core (1), said first and second sliders (2) and (3) being made from a resin composition comprising an epoxy resin composition and a filler comprising silica having a coefficient of thermal expansion of from 5.times.10.sup.-7 to 6.times.10.sup.-7 /.degree. C. as the main component and from 3 to 30 wt % at least one minor component selected from alumina, mullite, barium titanate, forsterite, steatite, and zircon, the amount of the filler being from 50 to 95 wt % based on the amount of the epoxy resin composition. The magnetic head is inexpensive, does not suffer deterioration of the magnetic characteristics of the head core, and is free from the problem of sticking to a floppy disk, head wear, or media wear.

    • A motor comprising: a rotor which is supported via a rotating shaft in a radial direction of the rotating shaft, the rotating shaft being disposed around a fixed shaft provided on the side of a stator to form a dynamic-pressure bearing; a stator-side thrust magnet disposed in the stator so as to support the rotor with respect to the stator in a thrust direction of the rotating shaft; a rotor-side thrust magnet disposed in the rotor; and a rotating main body portion mounted to the rotating shaft of the rotor and formed integrally by a resin magnetic material, in which a main magnet portion, an FG magnet portion for generating a speed-of-rotation detecting pulse, and a rotor-side thrust magnet portion serving as said rotor-side thrust magnet are respectively polarized at predetermined positions in the rotating main body portion. As a result, the reliability of an optical deflector in which the motor is used improves and the number of parts and the number of assembling processes are both reduced due to a simple structure. Further, a balance correction operation of the rotor is eliminated so as to allow a simple manufacturing operation, and even when the rotor is rotated at high speed, a stable optical scanning operation can be effected.

    • An apparatus for growing a material at high temperature and employing a reaction gas. A reaction vessel is formed of a metal sidewall having outer and inner surfaces, the inner surface surrounding and defining a reaction chamber within the reaction vessel and which is generally vertically oriented. A cooling system maintains the metal sidewall of the reaction vessel at a temperature at which the metal does not produce contamination within the reaction chamber as a result of the high temperature operation, the reactant gases introduced into the reaction chamber or the product gases resultant from the reaction. A support mechanism includes a generally vertically oriented rod member which supports a susceptor, adapted to hold a wafer on which the material is to be grown, within the bottom part of the reaction chamber and, further, seals the reaction chamber. A sleeve is disposed closely adjacent to but spaced from the inner surface of the generally cylindrical metal sidewall portion and is of a material which remains stable at the high temperature of the reaction required for growing the material.
