    • In an outboard marine drive, a tubular socket member is sealingly fitted into an opening formed on one side of the crankcase of the engine at a level corresponding to a normal engine lubricating oil level, and a transparent window member is sealingly fitted into an outer end of the tubular socket member. An engine cover covering the engine is provided with an opening aligned with the transparent window member so as to allow the level of lubricating oil in the crankcase to be inspected from outside the engine cover. The socket member may also be provided with an oil filler pipe bifurcating upwardly from the socket member at an oblique angle, and an oil drain pipe bifurcating downwardly from the socket member at an oblique angle so that filling and removing lubricating oil into and out of the crankcase of the engine can be easily accomplished without complicating the structure for managing engine lubricating oil.

    • A disclosed engine assembly comprises an engine; a crank shaft having an end extending outward from inside the engine; a rotating body mounted at the end of the crank shaft; a cover body mounted on the engine so as to cover the rotating body; the cover body comprising a lower cover that covers at least lower part of the rotating body and an upper cover connected to the lower cover so as to cover at least upper part of the rotating body; the lower cover having at least one ventilating intake port for sucking hot air located around the engine under the intake port; the upper cover having a ventilating exhaust duct for discharging the sucked hot air; the rotating body including a timing belt located near one side of the engine, a tensioner located near one side of the engine and having a mounting position adjustment bolt for adjusting a tension on the timing belt, and a manually starting pulley located on one side of the engine outside the timing belt; and the starting pulley having at least one opening located so as to engage with the amounting position adjustment bolt of the tensioner. This constitution enables hot air existing around the engine under the lower cover to be discharged smoothly to the outside of the engine cover via the cover body, thereby preventing hot air from being stranded under the lower cover. In addition, the position of the mounting position adjustment bolt can be perceived easily by simply aligning the opening with the bolt.

    • In a fuel supply system for a multi-cylinder engine, a pump driving cam is provided between an intake cam and an exhaust cam on a camshaft. The pump driving cam and a fuel pump are interconnected by a pump driving member. The pump driving member is slidably supported on a pair of supporting portions which are projectingly, integrally provided on a cylinder head and disposed between valve springs of a pair of intake valves. Thus, the intake valves and the valve springs are prevented from interfering with the pump driving member and the supporting portions and therefore, the fuel pump driven by the camshaft in the multi-cylinder engine can be disposed at a lengthwise intermediate portion of the camshaft. As a result, the distance between the fuel pump and each of the carburetors can be decreased to enable a stable supply of fuel.
