    • A head feeding mechanism in a magnetic recording and reproducing device comprises: a "0" side carriage which has a "0" side magnetic head mounted on the surface of the front end portion thereof, and is fed in the direction of length of a slot formed in a magnetic disk holder, into which a magnetic disk is loaded, by a guide provided on a device frame; and a "1" side carriage which has a "1" side magnetic head 16 mounted on the surface thereof which is confronted with the "0" side magnetic head, and a base which is flexibly supported on the base 1a of the "0" side carriage, and driven ears extended from the middle portion thereof which are driven by the edge of the slot with the aid of an energizing spring. In the mechanism, the "0" side carriage is formed rigid by molding resin, and has a flexible thin portion in the middle of the front end portion thereof which is much smaller in thickness than the other portions, and the "0" side magnetic head is soldered to a flexible printed circuit board with the flexible thin portion held between the "0" side magnetic head and the flexible printed circuit board.

    • In a magnetic disk driver for driving a magnetic disk inserted thereinto, a pair of locating members locates both ends of a guide bar to mount the guide bar on a main surface of a main frame in cooperation with a guide bar cramp. Disposed in the vicinity of a magnetic head, one of the locating members includes a projecting portion which projects on the main surface of the main frame. The projecting portion may be a projection squeezed out of the main frame by half blanking. Disposed over the main surface of the main frame and apart from the main frame, a head carriage holds a magnetic head movably along a predetermined radial direction to the magnetic disk. The head carriage comprises a head carriage body and a supporting frame for supporting the head carriage body. The supporting frame projects into the main surface of the main frame and is fitted on the guide bar. The main frame comprises a safe portion, which is opposed to the guide bar, for preventing contact of the supporting frame of the head carriage with the main surface of the main frame when the head carriage slides along the guide bar. The safe portion includes a concave portion. The concave portion may be dented by half blanking.

    • In a flexible disk drive for a flexible disk, a main frame defines a receiving portion for receiving the flexible disk. The main frame has a principal surface which faces the receiving portion and extends in a first direction and a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. A carriage assembly is mounted on the main frame and has a magnetic head for accessing the flexible disk. The carriage assembly is movable to carry the magnetic head along the principal surface. An eject base is coupled to the main frame and has a main portion facing the principal surface and side plates opposite to each other in the first direction. Between the main frame and the eject base, an eject plate is placed movable in the second direction for ejecting the flexible disk from the receiving portion. The eject plate has side plates facing the side plates of the eject base in the first direction, respectively. A guiding mechanism is coupled to the side plates of the eject base and to the side plates of the eject plate and guides movement of the eject plate in the second direction.
