    • A reflector has an inlet opening toward a piezoelectric element, an outlet opening toward a nozzle plate and a reflecting wall connecting the same with each other. The nozzle plate has a nozzle located in the vicinity of the outlet. The piezoelectric element is provided with a through hole on a position opposed to the outlet, and applies ultrasonic waves to a liquid supplied into the reflector from the through hole. The ultrasonic waves are reflected by the reflecting wall and converged in the vicinity of the outlet for improving acoustic energy on this position so that the nozzle ejects droplets. Thus, the dimension in a direction perpendicular to that for ejecting the droplets is suppressed for providing a droplet ejector having a compact structure.

    • A noncontact transmitting apparatus includes first and second noncontact transmitting units mounted on a main device and an attachment device, respectively. The second noncontact transmitting unit is removably attachable to the first noncontact transmitting unit for enabling noncontact signal transfer between the main device and the attachment device. Each of the noncontact transmitting units includes a power coil and a signal coil. The power coil is wound on a first core to supply power from the main device to the attachment device by electromagnetic induction. The first cores of the first and second noncontact transmitting units face each other at a first position when the attachment device is loaded on the main device. The signal coil is wound on a second core for signal transfer between the main device and the attachment device by electromagnetic induction. The second cores of the first and second noncontact transmitting units face each other at a second position when the attachment device is loaded on the main device. When the attachment device is rotated about the first core by a specified angle, the signal coil of the second noncontact transmitting unit is moved from the second position. This makes it possible for the main device such as a cellular phone, and the attachment device, such as a camera, to transfer power and signals between them with a simple configuration with high reliability when the attachment device is loaded on the main device.

    • An optical switch includes a light emitter for emitting light and light receivers. A reflector is used for changing a path of light emitted from the light emitter. The reflector is held by a permanent magnet having first and second magnetic poles of opposite polarities. A supporting member is provided for the reflector and the first permanent magnet so that the reflector and the first permanent magnet can move between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the reflector and the first permanent magnet interact so the emitted light travels into one light receiver of the light receivers. On the other hand, in the second position, the reflector and the first permanent magnet interact so the emitted light travels into another of the light receivers. The switch further includes an electromagnet for generating first and second magnetic fields selectively for moving the reflector and the first permanent magnet between the first and second positions.

    • A magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus of the helical scanning type, such as a videotape recorder and a DAT (Digital Audio Tape Recorder), in which a magnetic head is controlled so as to move perpendicularly to its scanning direction to fit the undulation of a recording track. For this controlled movement, the apparatus includes a reference signal storage for storing a head displacement signal, which is outputted from a head-moving signal operating unit, as a reference signal for the next scanning operation. With this arrangement, control of the movement of the magnetic head for every recording track is possible to correct a displacement about a position of a magnetic head based on the reference signal, thus increasing convergence of displacement.
