    • From a transmitter to a transmission line, a baseband signal is transmitted together with a replica signal created by superposing the baseband signal onto Carrier Frequency C1. Similarly, from a transmitter to a transmission line, a baseband signal is transmitted together with a replica signal created by superposing the baseband signal onto Carrier Frequency C2. At a receiver, the receive signal is branched into two. From one of the branched signals, the baseband signal is extracted by passing the signal through a filter. From the remaining signal, the replica signal on Carrier Frequency C2 is converted into the baseband, which is also extracted. The resultant signals are input to an adaptive equalizer. The output signal from the adaptive equalizer now has the same waveform as the crosstalk signal that has crossed into the baseband signal. The crosstalk can be suppressed by subtracting these two signals from each other by use of a subtracter.

    • The invention provides a clock synchronization system which synchronizes the clock of a slave node with the clock of a master node by use of a timestamp packet transmitted from the master node to the slave node on the packet network, wherein the slave node includes a phase comparison part 201 which calculates a difference between a received timestamp and a timestamp generated on the slave node side; an LPF part 202 which suppresses jitters and noises contained in the difference obtained by the phase comparison part; a PI control part 203 which generates a control signal configured to ultimately reduce the difference to zero; a VCO part 204 which outputs a clock signal with a frequency corresponding to the generated control signal; a frequency division part 205 which generates a clock signal with a frequency up-converted from the frequency of the clock signal; a timestamp generation part 206 which outputs a timestamp based on the clock signal from the frequency division part; and a resolution conversion part 207 which increases the resolution of the timestamp from said timestamp generation part.

    • A VPN connection method and a communication system are provided, each which can omit the setting of a firewall and the installation of a relay server and can establish communications from the outside of a firewall to the inside thereof. The internal network 2 is connected to the external network 1 via the firewall 13. The internal network 2 enables communications by an e-mail from the external network 1 (outside the firewall) to the mail server 21 in the internal network 2 (inside the firewall) or communications by telephone or radio, which is not via the firewall 3. The feature of the firewall 3 is utilized that access from the outside to the inside of the firewall through VPN connection is very difficult but the access in the reverse stream can be simply performed. Using the mail server, telephone line or radio line, the internal network 2 receives an e-mail, which requires for VPN connection from the external network 1, or control information through the telephone line. Thus, the internal network 2 sends callback for VPN connection to the e-mail transmission source. As a result, the callback allows the external network 1 to pass through the firewall 3.
