摘要： A high speed dubbing is to be realized with two recording and/or reproducing units for compressed data. To this end, a magneto-optical disc 32 is read by an optical head 33 and compressed data produced via a decoder 41 are delivered to a memory 14 via a switch 37. The data are then delivered to a magnetic head driving circuit 16 via an encoder 15 for direct writing on a magneto-optical disc 2. In this manner, compressed data are directly dubbed without expansion to realize high speed dubbing.

摘要： There is provided a disc recording apparatus for recording digital data by an optical unit in such a manner that time compressed digital data are arranged into a plurality of clusters at an interval of a predetermined number of sectors, a cluster-linking sector having a length longer than an interleaving length is provided at each linking part of each cluster, and the digital data are subsequently interleaved and recorded on a disc-shaped recording medium so that interleaving at the time of data recording on the cluster-by-cluster basis is within the range of the cluster-linking sector. There is also provided a disc reproducing apparatus for reproducing digital data by an optical unit in which playback data are obtained by reproducing record data recorded on a disc-shaped recording medium in such a manner that a cluster-linking sector longer than an interleaving length is provided in a linking section of each cluster composed of a predetermined number of sectors, the resulting data is interleaved and recorded on the disc-shaped recording medium, and the playback data are deinterleaved and freed or the cluster-linking sectors so as to be stored transiently in a storage unit. Playback data are written in the storage unit when the data volume of playback data stored in the storage unit becomes smaller than a predetermined volume to maintain a readout space in the storage unit which is in excess of the predetermined data volume. In this manner, data may be read out continuously from the storage unit at a predetermined rate without interrupting the reproducing operation at the cluster-linking sector of the data recorded on the medium.

Playback data are written in the storage unit when the data volume of playback data stored in the storage unit becomes smaller than a predetermined volume to maintain a readout space in the storage unit which is in excess of the predetermined data volume.

摘要： An optical disc drive is disclosed in which an optical disc on which pregrooves are formed for affording wobble signals frequency modulated by predetermined data signals is driven at a constant linear velocity. Until the time that the data signals obtained upon demodulating the wobble signals are taken out correctly, the reproduced wobble signals are compared with a predetermined reference signal so that a spindle motor for rotating the optical disc is controlled so as to be driven at an approximately constant linear velocity. After it is detected that the data signals obtained upon demodulating the wobble signals are taken out correctly, the spindle motor is driven in a controlled manner on the basis of data signals obtained upon demodulating the reproduced wobble signals so that the spindle motor is controlled so as to be driven at a constant linear velocity. In this manner, the optical disc is controlled immediately at the start time of the optical disc or at the time of track jump by the optical head so that the optical disc is driven a constant linear velocity.

Under the control of the controller 138, a drive 136 secures, in the beginning of the found area, an area having the same capacity as the data amounts of an IL auxiliary area and a recorded stream unit, records an unrecorded stream unit, and then copies the recorded stream unit. The present invention is applicable to video cameras.

In the case of changing (recording or deleting) the content file, the index file is updated after the change. A computer 4 sets up, in a nonvolatile memory 15, status information indicative of being in a predetermined process stage, in the predetermined process stage from a start of changing the content file to a termination of updating the index file. The computer 4, at turning on power, determines the matching/mismatching between the content and index files recorded on the recording medium 2 by utilizing the status information, thus repairing the index file as required.
