摘要： According to the present invention, in an optical disk apparatus constructed to supply signals for controlling a semiconductor laser drive circuit provided to an optical pickup from a signal processing circuit through a flexible cable, the semiconductor laser drive circuit is so constructed as to generate a drive current signal for the semiconductor laser on the basis of a binary signal and a clock signal which are supplied from the signal processing circuit through the flexible cable and the signal processing circuit is so constructed as to stop supplying the block signal to the semiconductor laser drive circuit through the flexible cable during reproduction of data, and to start supplying the clock signal to the semiconductor laser drive circuit before recording of data.

摘要： A laser waveform generation function is provided in a laser driving waveform generator 2 near a laser 3. A recording clock generator 9 is included in the laser driving waveform generator 2 to generate a clock with a frequency higher than that of a synchronizing clock 202. This allows a recording laser current (waveform) to be generated without transmission of a high frequency signal from the modulator 6. Further, because the synchronizing clock 202 is stopped upon a reproduction operation including reproduction operation in an ID unit, undesired effects on a reproduction operation such as ID reproduction can be reduced. Because the response speed of the recording clock generator 9 can be changed, a high precision clock can be generated. Thus, a high-precision recording laser current (waveform) can be generated.

摘要： For application of asymmetry trial writing onto phase-change recording discs, this invention is intended to determine an optimum level of recording power accurately. Single pattern or random pattern signals are recorded, and phase differences between PLL clock edges and data edges are detected using reproduced signals to determine a threshold value of recording power where a predetermined percentage of phase differences occurs. The threshold power is then multiplied by a constant to provide a optimum level of recording power. Further, there are disclosed arrangements for determining an optimum power condition at a point where an error count (jitter) is minimized, and determining an optimum power condition as an averaged power level existing between low and high power conditions.

The input data is sector segmented to the CD-ROM sector by the circuit 4. When a large recording capacity is requested, a CD-ROM decoder 5 is selected by the switching circuit 3. After the CD-ROM data was error corrected, user bytes in the data are sector segmented into 2-kbyte sector. The data converted into the CD-ROM sector or 2-kbyte sector is integrated to a block structure by the block segmenting circuit 7 and is, further, subjected to processes such as error correction coding and digital modulation by a recording processing circuit 8. A pattern of a sync that is added by the recording processing circuit 8 is made different in accordance with a sector construction. Recording data from the recording processing circuit 8 is recorded onto an optical disc 2 by an optical pickup 10.
