    • A projector includes: a light source which emits light; an image forming unit which forms an image having desired size by using light emitted from the light source; and a projection unit which projects the image formed by the image forming unit on a light receiving surface. The projection unit has a light diffusing member disposed at a position where an intermediate image corresponding to light released from the image forming unit is formed to diffuse the light, and a projection system which projects the light diffused by the light diffusing member on the light receiving surface. Diffusion intensity distribution of light released from a predetermined position of the light diffusing member contains at least two prominences with the center axis of the light interposed between the prominences.

    • The invention relates to a technique of providing illumination light having an even intensity, in order to make intensity of three illumination light with a simple structure. A second optical waveguide having a second incidence plane for second color light and a third optical waveguide having a third incidence plane for third color light are joined to a first optical waveguide having a first incidence plane for first optical light and an emergence plane opposed to the first incidence plane. A first dichroic filter that reflects the first color light and the third color light and transmits the second color light is formed on a joint surface between the first optical waveguide and the second waveguide. A second dichroic filter that reflects the first color light and the second color light and transmits the third color light is formed on a joint surface between the first optical waveguide and the third waveguide.

    • A light source device includes at least two light emitting parts which emit light; and a polarization separating part which transmits polarized light in a first vibrating direction of the lights from the light emitting part, and reflects polarized light in a second vibrating direction nearly orthogonal to the first vibrating direction, thereby to separate the lights from the light emitting part into the polarized light in the first vibrating direction and the polarized light in the second vibrating direction. Herein, the light emitting part includes a reflection part which reflects light that travels toward the light emitting part from the polarization separating part, in the direction of the polarization separating part. The polarization separating part synthesizes the polarized light in the first vibrating direction that has passed through the polarization separating part, and the polarized light in the second vibrating direction that has reflected on the polarization separating part, thereby to cause the synthesized light to travel in a predetermined direction.
